I understand taxis need to have a PRS licence and a PPL licence if playing music from the radio whilst passengers are onboard.

The PRS website says it's about £33 for their licence in a taxi up to 9 passengers

The PPL website only gives a price of about £112 for buses and coaches, no mention of taxis.

Does anyone know the current cost of PPL for an 8 passenger seater taxi. 9 inc driver.

Thank you

Simple solution, turn off the radio when there are passengers on board and have a conversation

just use 16 gig MP3 that's downloaded to the head unit, and let the punters choose.

WTF you want a licence to listen to music for is beyond belief, just drive and if they want it put it on

I wouldn't normally bother but I've been offered some contract work and they are sticklers and asked if I had the licences. They want to play some music to their customers in my vehicle as part of a tour package.

Fechin Rip off..These People are just taking money because they can, It's not as if they even know who I'm listening to yet they would happily take the cash and divvy it up amongst themselves anyway.

Therefore I never listen to Music with Punters in the car, It's news Channels and Traffic only, and if a bit of music creeps in along with that then It's not my fechin doing.

Be different If I bought A CD of a given artist, but as they are mostly guff 2nd raters in any case these days I don't bother wasting my money on them.

If you pay you will be the only cabby in the country who does.

You are playing the music for yourself.
