Hello everyone

Just wanted to ask a question I have applied for my license and sent my medical off. I have a heart murmur which I have had from a child never had surgery or caused me bother would that stop me getting a licence

Thanks

Daisy

I think you should be ok.

However I doubt you will be 12 months after being licensed.

so long as you have given in your complete medical records you have done the right thing.

However i will give you the same advice i give all new Drivers DONT DO IT do not become a Professional Driver you will be cheated swindled work a zillion hours for a pittance and stand the very real risk of being assaulted and even murdered this job rates 3rd behind deep sea fisherman, and construction workers in danger levels for civilian occupations, is that the scenario you wish to enter with a heart murmur, added to that you will be working with the lowest paid workers in any occupation ie bottom of the food chain!

This naturally dosnt occur by accident Professional Drivers without doubt the stupidest most ignorant collection of lickspittle gobshites the world has ever seen #-o they will lie cheat swindle grovel for their own ends, solidarity or sticking up for their own is a foreign concept to this shower of cretinous non entities.

should you require Professional Advice contact A Union RMT GMB OR Unite have sections for Hack PH and Chauffeurs, also of course there is the National Taxi Association, the leading light of whom posts on here as Captain Cab nice guy but will i believe only assist Hackney Drivers.???CC.

DONT DO IT DO NOT ENTER THIS INDUSTRY ...................................................GOOD LUCK TT :D

London only, but there's discretion and it should be persuasive

PCO notice 20/09

Private Hire Vehicle Drivers

Amendment to the physical fitness requirement

The Private Hire Vehicles (London PHV Drivers Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 came into force on 1 May 2009.

The Regulations have amended regulation 3 (The physical fitness requirement) of the Private Hire Vehicles (London PHV Drivers Licences) Regulations 2003.

The physical fitness requirement for PHV drivers is now that an applicant:

(a) is the holder of a Group 2 licence; or

(b) satisfies Transport for London (TfL) that he is medically fit to hold a PHV driver’s licence.

The requirement that drivers must meet DVLA Group 2 medical standards has been removed, however the regulations additionally state that in assessing whether an applicant is medically fit, TfL will have regard to the medical standard that would apply in relation to a Group 2 licence.

This amendment brings the physical fitness requirement for PHV drivers into line with that for licensed London taxi drivers, where the Licensing Authority is guided by Group 2 standards, and will allow the Licensing Authority some discretion in making decisions in respect of an applicant’s physical fitness.
