Drunk Nottingham man punched taxi

SATURDAY night reveller Nathan Murphy has been given a conditional discharge for swearing and punching a taxi when drunk.

The 24-year-old was with friends in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, October 26, when police found him on Maid Marian Way.

The prosecution said Murphy, of Staverton Road, Aspley, was giving "a tirade of abuse" to the taxi driver and punching the vehicle, while tumbling and slurring his speech.

Officers arrested him and kept him in a cell overnight but the first thing Murphy remembered was waking up at the police station.

Nottingham Magistrates' Court gave him a 12-month conditional discharge and told him he had to pay a victim surcharge of £15, along with costs of £85.
