Some will disagree, some will not see any problem with national standards no matter how low they go. I did note that the council in this case didn't seem to be aware the the Law Commission report said that standards for taxis could be varied and improved by the individual councils. So in the case of others that seek to minimise standards, even in areas they have no licenses, what difference will it make if they do interfere when the standards for private hire will be as low as a snakes belly

Ashfield council seem to meet once a year as a rubber stamping mission

I don't think anyone is actually surprised by this tbh - it is what we are suspected anyway - apart from govt. who are retarded

It's not ok to pass work across borders, but it's ok to give operators licenses out of area? Councils can't moan there part of the problem. As I see the law society have opted for the easy way out.

I would suggest that rather than make those operating outside the law tow the line they have moved the goal posts to meet the needs of such people

He operates in Ashfield shown here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Oas ... 9a84268203.

He operates Bolsover plates and has no Ashfield plates at all due to him going over the border for Bolsover's lax licensing laws.

He's not got a clue how much a driver earns, he's talking out of his bullet hole.
