its all a question of morals realcabforce

what gives you the right to stop anyone having what you have been givin?

I claim no such right. I abided by the law since I saw it addressed the problem of striking a balance between the trade making a decent living and the public having a good 24 hour taxi service. You prefer to challenge it on what I regard as the selfish grounds of greed.

Remember we thought this waffle was familiar, well would you believe it, RealCabforce is Alan Gladrag’s from the Fastblacks sewing bee in Edinburgh.

Welcome to the real world Gladrag’s.

Do you ever get anything right? 'cos you're wrong again!!
I've told you my name on several occasions, but you can't take it in.
Another stab in the dark? It seems everything you try fails, don't it.

strange this, but if you see me as greedy for wanting a plate then by you're own reasoning you must be greedy for having a plate
and worse selfish to for not wanting anyone else to have one
the mind boggles it really does #-o

The greed aspect arises because you don't want to join a queue. Why can't you wait for a plate like so many others have and still do?

no what they said was they could have it by october if

they bypass

the hire car consultation group

regulatory committee(who would normaly deal with this)

scrutiny panel

what they said they will do in order to get a fully ratified survey is to put it on the agenda of the full council( a decision of the full council is not subject to scrutiny panels.and the hire car consultation group is not mandatory)
thiers you're democracy! at work son. [-X
tell me what i dont see!
glasses or no glasses

From the court report . The bold print is what will happen if the extension is granted and the italics is how it could be shortened if the extension to October was not granted.
"Once the final report has been received it will require to be considered. In the event that this application is granted and the extension of time allowed Mr Miller said that a meeting of the Hire Car Licensing Consultation Group would be called with a view to the Group's views being available for the next meeting of the Regulatory Committee which would take place in August. That committee would make recommendations to the Executive which would meet in September. He said it was likely that the decision of the Executive would be called in by the Scrutiny Panel which would have the opportunity to call witnesses from the Consultancy and other interested parties. He believed it would be possible to have a policy in place to allow the Respondents' applications to be considered by the end of October. If normal procedure was not possible the procedure could be expedited. A meeting of the Hire Car Licensing Consultation Group was not a mandatory step. Since the Regulatory Committee cannot make policy decisions the matter could be put straight onto the agenda for a meeting of the full Council. Decisions of the Council are not subject to scrutiny by the Scrutiny Panel. A meeting of the Regulatory Committee could be called on seven days notice to reach a decision on the applications. This procedure, while shorter, would not permit an opportunity for full discussion and the elected members may feel uninformed. Mr Inch emphasised the importance of full consultation and discussion in view of the contentious nature of taxi licensing"

Get it now??

another case of this sherrif not listening
i was thier.

mr inch's comments are to be paid attention to
he said it would not be possible to get it onto the agenda of full council metting in august, and september would be more realisticly possible.
allowing for a decision to be made by october.

what mr miller :^o said doesnt matter its not up to him
if the fastrack route allows for a full meeting in september in order to hear the applicants by october,
how would the longer route of more committees etc get it in faster?

astoundingly naïve as usaul from you realcabforce [-X

youll never get it

hardly democratic if you bypass pressure groups, scrutiny panels, etc is it.

in other words if we dont have long enough time well rubber stamp it and deal with the backlash later :-#

You are wrong to think that I am "RealCabforce."
After having put up with your continual abuse and attacks on www.fastblacks.com rest assured that, whilst I have been following this slanging match, which must be boring everyone who bothers to read it, I have not taken any part in it.
I may agree with some comments but I disagree with the unnecessary abuse emanating from both sides.
So as I have said to you before - keep me out of it.
Alan G
From past experience, I won't expect an apology though - you aren't man enough to admit when you are wrong.

With regard to this guessing game about what Edinburgh might or might not do if they can't make a decision by October? It should be taken into account that there is nothing to stop them from going back to the Sheriff and asking her for a further extension. I think that might be the likely outcome if Edinburgh can't expedite their responsibilities.

If they went before Sheriff Mackie I would expect the Council to get their extension. The applicants should hope that the council don't complete in time and they end up with a Sheriff like Mr Davidson.

Regards

JD

I would take a bet that the motley crew are waiting to see what our next move is going to be?

I know there are a number of Councillors and MSP’s who are on our side?

Dissention in the ranks and all that?

And what if the Council decide to deny the applications? I think what everyone has got to consider is the 110 on the List of Interested Parties and the 35 who have applied.

I think you can see where this is going?

More fun

One can only wonder at the sanity of skull, who regards this as a game.
If the CEC deny their applications, which they will do if there is no SUD, there will be no new licences issued - so where is it going, skull?

As I said once before the longer this goes on and all that.

The 35 lose their £700 application fee and the 110 face the prospect of being on the list for 20 years.

In another 5 years there will be more Ph working this City than taxis. Will you still be claiming there is no unmet demand?

I don't know enough about the situation up there to become deeply involved with this thread, BUT , , , ,

If i can give you some figures from London where, and I use the term loosely, 'Private Hire' stand at 30'000 vehicles / drivers, London taxi drivers stand at about 25'000 using 20'000 Taxi's.

Now we don't have a great deal of unmet demand, although some of the Radio Company shareholders would have you think we do, wonder why?

Also London is not limited in numbers of Taxi's or drivers, but we do have the best quality control in the world, i.e; The Knowledge which requires about 2 - 3 years of serious study and commitment.

I may add people don't leave the Taxi trade to go to the other side.

Whereas a visit to any Knowledge School will reveal lots of minicab drivers studying on the 'K'.
