Edinburgh gets lots of tourists - a global app will mean the end of a lot of ££££££££ fares

This app nonsense from the punters perspective is a great idea but it must be good for the Ph as well, you just pull your car off the radio circuit and use your phone, no plates, no cab test, no Cab Inspector, nothing. It's the way forward. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Have I got that bit wrong??

Well, you are not operating as a taxi or Ph? :?

Quote:
Complaints include concerns at the lack of regulation for drivers and vehicles, which allows them to offer a cheaper service than private-hire firms and black cabs.

Quote:
“They don’t train their drivers, or test their vehicles. They only provide an app. I just think, why would you?”

they're licensed as PH in the rest of the UK - and the fact they've applied for planning permission for an office with CEC tends to suggest they will have licensed drivers, who are vetted and checked like all the other taxi and ph outfits - which makes the scaremongering claims in the story quite amusing :lol:

Ah well, that's even better because it puts the focus directly on the Taxi and Ph company radio circuits. Why pay for a radio when you can have an app on your phone?

Edinburgh City Private Hire (ECPH), must be [edited by admin] themselves... #-o

No mate - the usual sp is for them to announce they are going somewhere, the existing trade go mental - create sensational headlines, threaten law suits - and millions in adverts is generated free

Well it's funny you should say that because the lack of regulation claims came directly from the Ph and Hack trade. #-o

That's a bloody good strategy. =D> =D> =D>

Just note the quote here;

Quote:
The city is already “well-served” for taxis,

Now that wasn't made by UBER - that was the taxi trade not confusing the public that UBER isn't a taxi app - by using the word taxi.

and again;

Quote:
They don’t train their drivers, or test their vehicles. They only provide an app

hardly any PH firms train their drivers, no firm tests their own vehicles - deliberate confusion or just a f*ckwitted scare story?

and again -

Quote:
Capital Cars, raised concerns for the safety of passengers

that'll be the public who are driving around in the same vehicles they currently are where the driver isn't paying a company a weekly settle then?

It won't make any difference to PH driver, they'll just pay Uber 20% instead of paying £100 to an operator :wink: The best bit is when the companies decide that if they undercut Uber they'll get the custom back but Uber on the other hand charge the customer more at busy periods. Go figure :roll:

I just love the way we are generating millions of free publicity

maybe Edinburgh's cab trade should have a demo - that would be good - mention uber on the telly even
