You do realise that Uber is expected to rake in around £80,000,000 this year alone, and that's not because their app does not work or the public and taxi/Ph drivers don't use it. Oh and have a wee look at London, the hack trade down there is far from happy with with Uber?

you're just a scaremonger

It makes you wonder about these guy eh... #-o There must be around 300 street cars that have nothing to lose and everything to gain by signing up to Uber, along with God only knows how many Ph but Dougie and Chrismas think everything in their Taxi garden is rosy.... #-o Oh and Uber is arriving in Edinburgh with pots of cash and a track record ta boot.... #-o #-o #-o #-o

Seriously Skull
You have convinced yourself finally the Edinburgh trade is going to get and in Jasbars words Rogered

During peak times your are convinced streetcars will have nothing to lose by covering Uber work

How many years did you work the street :?:

During busy periods did you say to yourself, oh I wish i was covering radio work

Naw I didny think so

The current circuits CC&CRT struggle to cover work during busy times because some drivers turn their PDA off when it's busy, what chance has Uber got, clue none

Apps will come and go and unless it has the drivers to cover the work it won't work, the Scotland bill is also allowing LAs the right to restrict (Jasbars are you reading this) the number of PH licences

The Trade in Edinburgh is robust and again will stand up against any kind of competition even carpetbaggers and also those who bare a grudge against our trade and LA (just for you JT).

Keep trying though, you never know

That's the spirit Chris, I mean, overall your trade will be fu*ked but from a street car's perspective, you've added another string to your bow... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Don't forget Chris, it's not like paying for a radio, you have only to pay a commission on each job, and that's if, you've not got work in the street. The choice is yours... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

It's the Ph and Radio companies that will be in the shi*! #-o

300 street cabs with Uber apps, is effectively another company joining the ranks of the City's Radio Circuits and competing directly for their work. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I've not convinced myself of anything, you only have to look at Uber as a company and what it has achieved in every city it has arrived in. It's not rocket science Dougie, check it out for yourself??? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

No. The street cars will only do the work which benefits them and that will be servicing the customers that are no longer using City, CRT or ECPH. If you are on the street, then you've hit the jackpot with an Uber app because you no longer have to stick to the hours when the rank is working or the busy period when the clubs come out. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

A few years and that's where the Uber app comes into it's own, it gives the street car your radio work without having to pay extortionate radio dues whether they work or not. #-o
Quote:

No. However, you were forced to work when the work was in the street, with an Uber app you could work earlier or later whatever suites and without the monthly cost of a radio. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Dougie, the struggle you talk about is drivers getting dragged all over the town, when it's more profitable to work the street. Uber will be truly City wide with street Taxis and Ph all working together as a fleet. Oh and let's not forget the opportunity for anyone wishing to put on a PH, Car, Satnav, Uber app and away you go... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Well until they do restrict Ph licenses the field is wide open for anyone wishing to put on a Ph with an Uber app. Oh and Dougie, Kenny MacAskill's bum is oot the windae... #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Your trade is fuc*ed and a former shadow of what it was when I started driving.... #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Dougie, I laugh at your so called trade because it deserves nothing more, it's a joke.

Oh and Dougie, the Uber app is simplicity itself. =D> There is no paying extortionate radio dues every month to support unnecessary office staff and daft wee taxi drivers playing on committee. #-o It's a button on your phone which provides a service by putting you in direct contact with the customer. =D> =D> =D> =D>

It might take a wee while but I think Uber will wipe the floor with you lot, starting with the Street cars and Ph competing for your work with no risk to themselves. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> It doesn't get much better than that... =D> =D> =D> =D>

Apps are the way forward IMO, we've got one cheap as chips £10 per week happy days. Drivers will save £90 per week instead of paying radio circuits.

It comes down to competing Apps, ours is established with drivers willing to service the work, ours is tried, tested and trusted, can't see our customers buying in to another App provider that has no loyalty and no proven driver base but hey what do I know

an app on a local level is invariably downloaded by existing clientele

The cost to me of the radio covers itself

No call out charges working the street, also insignificant extra person charges too

10xRadio jobsper day@80p a time is £8 a day in income x 30 days = £240 per month

The above is based on a minimum :D

Radio circuit is VFM and the App we use is included in our fees and at no extra cost, no commission either, do the maths

How does UBER work when PH have a meter fitted and are required to use it for every journey undertaken within their licensed area? Great if the customer sees any discount, not so great if the difference is the other way. Does their fare which increases when demand increases ever exceed the taxi meter rate?
Paying 20% of your take against £100? Does it really stack up or are PH a lot poorer than they would have us believe?
