It might have been covered, if so my apologies.

It is that time of the year and I have just had a silly quote from the A.A. who have a letter in the post cancelling after 6 years.

I have looked up "Green Flag" and they are coming in a lot cheaper.

Does anyone have any feed back on them ? Or would anyone recommend A.N.other that covers a family car plus a recognisable hackney?

Ring up the AA and ask for the cancellation department. They should reduce it by between a third and a half.

It's a tedious game we all have to play each year.

AUTOAID £41 FULL COVER FOR YOU & SPOUSE
CHEAPEST FULL COVER PAY 'N' CLAIM FOR COUPLES
http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk
It insures the person, not the car. This means vehicle age, mileage and reliability are irrelevant, plus caravans and trailers will also be towed if attached to your car.

Free cover for a spouse. You'll also get free cover for a spouse or civil partner. Sadly, this doesn't apply if you're just cohabiting.

Onward transport. Most budget policies only fix the car at the roadside or tow it to a garage. With AutoAid you'll get transport to your destination for up to six people in total (inclusive of the driver).

Home breakdown cover, limited to £65. It pays for labour and recovery, but not parts.
It's backed by Equity Red Star, which also runs AutoNational's breakdown recovery.

AA
Want to save more? Buy a £114.99 or £124.99 AA* policy via Topcashback*, and you can get cashback of £47.25, cutting the cost to £67.74 or £77.74 (Use Quidco* and get £95 back). Buy a £154.99 or £164.99 policy via Topcashback* and get £73.50 back cutting the cost to £81.49 or £91.49 (Use Quidco* and get £60 back). You must pay in full upfront, not monthly.

IMPORTANT - Cashback is never guaranteed. Cashback sites list retailers and product providers, get paid if you click through them, then give you some or all of this cash.

I like the AA because its You the card holder that's covered and not just the car...so it matters not what car your driving or even a passenger in..your still covered.

As mentioned above, Phone em and they'll Discount that price, they try that every year. Me and the Wife have Gold membership and it Totals £142.50 this year. Its a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I agree it is a small price to pay, however I am tired of their silly games.

GreenFlag are coming in at around £102 ish.....As ever you have to do your/my homework as to whether they are the "Real Deal" or not is the case.

I sent a recorded delivery letter off to the AA on the 28th November canceling our membership, two reasons 1) In their terms and conditions they have a little clause saying " You do not have to do anything re your renewal - "as we will help ourselves to money from your account for you to continue" , me obviously not being happy with that one. 2) If they got it in writing (as opposed to a phone call) then they might just act a bit quicker as I am not unbendable....guess what? As I say posted on the 28th.....it has not arrived - so I guess it has been purloined #-o

One of the drivers here is with green flag. They seem to take hours to get to him when he breaks down.

We have a AA rep that visits the rank every few weeks and my current membership cost me £85 for the year. That includes home start and relay.

My Range Rover died in the middle of Romney Marsh the other week; AXA recvovery said a truck would be there within 20 minutes and it was!! Towed to my local indie Land Rover garage in Bexhill, som3 28 miles away. AXA Recovery £84 a year including home start and European cover!

And AXA have a PERSON to answer the phone usually within 3 rings.

We use our credit card for most large/ish purchases as it is covered by claw back if anything goes wrong, paying it off in full when the bill comes through. They have quoted the last three numbers at the end of the card number to say they will take it from that card, - a card that we used on the previous renewal.

One other thing that has come out of this, and the more I think about it, the more I am annoyed. I rang the "Bank" that we use to tell them it is a, no,no! they were very nice about it but said could not stop the transaction as it is basically a swipe job. The only direct way of stopping it would have been to report a lost card  As of yet the 6th December (renewal date) they have taken nothing, I will check the account on Monday when normal business begins.

AXA recvovery

I will check that one out, along with "Swinton" from "Wanna".
