A company under pressure Grandad

Uber has got you and flower rattled that's for sure Dougie.

Remember Amazon, Ebay, Netflix, Facebook, Google ect. You will always get the Luddites trying to make capital out of their expansionist agenda but that's just part and parcel of technology companies such as Uber.

You might hate the idea at the moment but it's only a matter of time before you learn to embrace the technology just like the rest of us. And then you'll be saying Uber has been the best thing to have hit Edinburgh since slice bread. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I know I will be pressing that little Uber app when I'm up the town.

Already using Taxi App technology, nearly 3 years now, works great for punter and driver, no hidden charges etc plus we have a great customer and driver support backing the technology up, punters as you know and especially Edinburgh stay loyal to a great service provided, no complaints so far, our punters love our App and with no hidden gimmicks I'm sure we'll continue to grow our customer base.

Checked out Uber, nothing to fear, they have more to fear with their exaggerated paper value of 40 billion bitcoins, investors get edgy and twitchy, no profit equals no confidence, can't see Uber surviving but hey that's only my opinion

So the technology launches under another name and bob's your uncle, you are back to where you started. #-o

I keep saying this Dougie but think, technology!!

Dougie, City Cabs is akin to a great big Dinosaur lumbering along waiting for the earth to be hit by a meteor strike.

You should be aware they'll throw millions at a market in free rides. I don't know how loyal Edinburgh taxi users are, but if someone's giving you £50 of free 'cab' rides you should be aware a few will stray.

Down in London it was mainly minicab users and the usual freeloaders, I'll let you decide how much of the Edinburgh taxi market would try them out.

I can see it now, City and CRT offering free taxi rides to compete with Uber.

There will be plenty taxis to do free rides because Uber is picking up the tab. Oh and as for the other six days you'll be lucky to have any work left at this rate.

Nah flower, when Uber arrive you lot are going to feel the loss of work big time.... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
Ah but never mind I am sure your committee will respond by putting up your radio dues....

"Battle" you are being a tad optimistic don't you think?

You are up against a company who can spend millions just to win customers over to their technology and City and CRT's only response is to increase radio dues to buy work. Something tells me, it won't be happening this time.

When work starts to drop off will your radio dues reflect the decrease in your earnings? I don't think so somehow. Image

I suspect Uber will have their work cut out complying with Scotlands envied Taxi/PHC licensing laws/Regulations

From what I've learnt from our thread Uber breach quite a lot of our regulations, so Skull a wee (big) challenge for you, tell us how Uber will be allowed to operate outside the laws and regulation of our trade?

Dougie, Uber doesn't have to work outwith our laws or regulations but strictly speaking, how would you stop Uber if they decided to go for a judicial review of the current legislation and how it is being applied to them. I have said repeatedly, Uber is a technology platform and not a taxi company, it's an app on your phone ffs. Oh and Edinburgh is ripe for the picking.

City and CRT operate completely inflexible business models, which totally depend on extortionate radio dues being paid months in advance to prop up the company and to buy work. They are very expensive and inefficient to run. In other words, these types of co-operatives have no wriggle room as you are already paying top dollar for the work that you do have. #-o

How do you respond to a company that can give away millions of pounds in free taxi rides just to bring people over to their technology? Do you lot start to work for nothing? #-o #-o #-o #-o

Dougie, City and Crt simply can't take the hit from a company like Uber.

I'm not saying that City or CRT will disappear altogether but they will have to find a different way to operate than they do now.
