I think you have missed the point somewhat.

No. I think you are all missing the point! #-o

I'm curious Grandad, when was the last time you committed an offence and to what degree? :-|

I'm glad you said that because I thought I was on a different planet.

Who has not left their vehicle with the engine running while remaining in close proximity to said vehicle :?:

It might be while making a delivery or posting a letter or on a cold winters day while blethering on the rank :?:

Yesterday one of my drivers told me that whilst he was stopped at traffic lights, the driver of the vehicle in front of him, who had special needs children on board, left the engine running and got out of the vehicle and came and spoke to him.
Did the driver commit an offence by leaving his vehicle with the engine running on a main road? Do you think the Council would consider this person to be no longer "fit and proper"?

Someone is pulling your wire...?causing trouble.....It's fu*king freezing...

This was whilst waiting at traffic lights with unaccompanied children in the car. Clearly the driver knows that he was wrong otherwise he wouldn't have resigned.

So what you are saying is, he took the brief opportunity of a traffic signal on red to leave his vehicle and make comment to another driver, following in the vehicle directly behind? :-|

In the strictest terms I would have to agree, it wasn't the smartest thing to do but I think we've all had similar poor judgment at onetime or another. :-|

As for his resignation it doesn't prove he was in the wrong, only that he felt he had little choice but to resign before being sacked. :-|

Personally, I think a stern word might have been more befitting a crime of this magnitude as none of us are saints.

Incidentally, who reported the circumstances of this most heinous crime to you?

The driver of our other car because he was concerned for the safety of the children.
There are a lot more issues with this particular driver that were giving us concern and this was another to add to the list so Without going into other details I will just leave it now.

Now that I don't believe because under normal circumstance, you would probably say something to the guy yourself rather than reporting him to the boss, unless of course, you were a complete fe*king to$$er. :-|

Aye maybe so but this was never mentioned at the start of the thread. :-k

Answer: I doubt it. Depending on the circumstances... :-|

It does seem a bit of a storm in a teacup, a stupid thing to do, especially with children in the vehicle but we've all probably done something similar at one time or another. If you have had other issues with this driver then that's another matter, it seems It could have been the straw that broke the camels back.

There's a difference between leaving a vehicle unsupervised with the keys in the ignition and being in attendance. #-o

So when you jump out of your vehicle on the rank or assist someone by opening the door, you always stop the vehicle first by switching off the engine and removing your keys from the ignition?
Complete bollocks!!! #-o #-o #-o #-o
