The driver, 24, was pulled to the ground and then punched and kicked.
Cash and jewellery were stolen during the attack, which happened when the driver stopped to ask for directions. The assault happened on Academy Way, Warrington, at around 3.50am on December 31.
Police described one of the the attackers as being white, in his early 20s, approximately 5’9” tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair which was shaved shorter at the sides and brushed back on top,. He also had a short dark brown beard.
He wore a round neck, light-coloured jumper and spoke with a local accent.
The second man is described as being white, in his early 20s, approximately 5’9” tall, of medium build, with light-coloured hair which was shaved shorter at the sides and spiked on the top, and was clean shaven. He also has a few red marks on his face and was wearing a dark-coloured jacket.
The third man is described as being white, in his early 20s, approximately 5’9” tall, of medium build, with dark brown, short hair at the sides with a combed over parting on the top. He had dark stubble and a pointy chin and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a dark blue round neck jumper and jeans.
The fourth man is only described as being white and wearing a red jumper. Police are now appealing for information from anyone who was either in the area at the time of the assault or at Academy Way when the men were picked up.
