Happy new year all.

To pay for the upkeep of my dear little Fairway, I'm setting up a wee sideline to do weddings. however, i need a few bits to get her even more lovely.

According to my mechanical man who knows, its best to get another meter to operate the hire sign rather than fiddle about with a separate switch. Can anyone advise what and where I would get an old one from?

Also the wiper motor needs replacing and the nearside mirror (will only adjust up or down).

if you are only doing weddings, why do you need a working meter and for hire sign? The local council may consider that you are working as a taxi.

The hire sign will not illuminate without a meter i believe. My previous cab had a direct switch for the sign, but this cab doesn't. i want to add a 'just married' bit in the sign illumination.

You can have the hire light working of either a meter or a switch.If of the meter youd probally need to go through a transducer cable.A lot easier of a simple on/off switch.Wiper motor of early land rover,I'd say there is quite a few on flea bay.Mirror ? Hard to say but probally bad contact on the switch (near hire sign)

Easy job to get the light running from a switch.
I had a meter in my cab connected to an electronic circuit to give a reading,just for a bit of 'authenticity'. Now disconnected after twice being pulled by the old Bill!.

I've got an old Cygnus m320 meter now and will try to work out how to use it! It'll not be in the cab except on wedding hire and even then it'll be covered up and will not be calibrated.

Btw. More bits have stopped working. The horn for instance. For the life of me I can't see where the fuse is for it as it's not listed on the display on the sun visor. Any ideas?

Could be the horn itself,have you tried to see if you've got power to it ? It could have a inline fuse fitted to it,although there is a fuse in the holder under the dash.

Ta will do. I can't seem to find a miler motor anywhere and it's completely packed up now! Anyone any idea where to get one or what type it is? I heard it might be some Land Rover part

I assume you mean wiper motor. It's a standard Lucas type,fitted to some land rovers and various Leyland cars.

Thanks all. Light now illuminates with a switch and the wipers actually work. Just as an aside, I've now saved a TX1 from the scrapper, so my Fairway can have a rest over the winter under a new bespoke cab cover.

And it only took you 9 months !
