Taxi Driver Online

A mate of mine has just told me that his Council have made some changes to their conditions for vehicles. The one that they have pointed out in a letter is thet all tyres must have at least 3mm of tread.
Can they make such a condition?

In our area its 2mm as opposed to the legal limit of 1.6mm
If its in the licence conditions this can be enforced by licensing. just recently a driver had his badge suspended for 1 month for operating with two bald tyre's

By "bald" do you mean that they were below 2mm or that they were below 1.6mm?

I suppose they can try it on........until it is challenged in a court. For £25 take it to a small claims court citing a loss that is not reasonable - nowhere else in the U.K stipulates such conditions.

Fechin Double standards on behalf of your LA, They'll be singing off the Trendy Green hymn sheet in one breath then have you throwing away perfectly good tyres before theyve worn out which in turn means more C02 created in the process of making twice as many new tyres than are actually needed...numpties.

The Muppet was stopped by the Police in the night and advised he had two illegal tyres. Did a school run in the morning and then when too licensing still with offending tyres fitted.
And under caution had too admit doing a contract with dodgy tyres I assume by the forgoing than the tyres were less than the legal limit

Our Council (Cheshire west and Chester) brought in a 2mm min a few years ago but within months it was back to 1.6mm. Me thinks someone didn't do the paperwork correctly and they had to scrap it, or am I just a cynic ?

Alas this story does not end well for the Driver of 25 years

Vehicle tested at Council facility that does not issue MOTs. Mot is done at a different garage.
