Hope your right Bloodnock but I fear the corporate profiteers are driven by profit and only profit :doubt:

I used Your Trade Skull, not yours or mine but theirs, in Scotland we do Regulation differently, I don't see it as a threat but a challenge, our App is established, it's reliable, there isn't much technological difference between Apps, it's down to service and reliability, it's our ball, can they take it off us? I doubt it

Dougie, in less than five years City Cabs will be operating from a broom cupboard of their own or not at all. The simple truth is, this bowling club mentality of running a taxi company is coming to an end. In fact, it's amazing how these companies have lasted this long but now it is game over. They are obsolete. =D> =D> =D> =D>

Ubers end game is driverless cars/taxis, so go on shaft your trade, sign up today, finance the driverless taxi revolution, with these 20 mph zones being rolled out all over the country, driverless cabs are a reality, plenty links available to back this up on the thread on Uber within the Scottish Section

Hey it's your trade

WAS

There is a Myriad of job types that could be carried out without the need of a human beings, but at the end of the day It is Humans that buy all the products and services that a robotic workforce supplies, It follows suit that if the vast majority of humans do not work for a living then they will not have the finances to buy the goods or services that these robotic services provide.

There will never be so much automation in the workplace or service industry that would starve business owners of the income based money that drives the whole economic machine. They aint going to pay for expensive automatons and then also give hand out's to us humans just to ensure we have the spending clout to justify the costs and upkeeps of their wonderous robotic machines or technology.

We are not quite their yet but someday soon these humanless Tasks will reach a plateau and level out if for no other reason than the fact that machines do not generate or spend money only Humans do.

The days of train drivers are already numbered. Airline pilots will not be far behind. Ryanair already want the law changed so that their planes only have one pilot on board.

having one pilot is miles away from having no pilot and even drones are piloted from a ground based pilot and i can't really see the day anytime soon where train drivers and other similar jobs will be done away with unless we have the consent of the people who need an income to survive otherwise the people will put the kaisbosh on the whole thing.

It has already happened on the underground in China. it is on the cards for the London Underground. There is nothing to stop one "pilot" in a computert room from controlling several drones at one time. These things are science fact not science fiction.

So is going to the Moon Science fact, but just because it can be done it doesn't follow it will become the norm...No workers = No wages and no wages mean no buyers of products or services, now business aint that stupid as to think that by removing to many jobs that it will better it's own cause and nor are Governments going to be so stupid as to encourage a situation where there are fewer people in employment than in unemployment, they rely on Tax payers not Benefit takers to pay for everything (including there Salaries) and to honour the national debt.

This new age of Automation is more techno gimickry than future reality, Sure the Governments want to appear trendy and techno savvy by embracing all things new, but they are always slower in waking up to the risks such technology brings with it but in the long run they will twig that a world where unemployment is the norm simply can't work or they will have a revolutionary backlash from the very people that votes them into their cushy office.

People always were, presently are and always will be what drives the world forwards and not the machines, Yes machines will can make our lives easier but they will never replace us completely.
