@Uber_LDN my uber just changes to "on trip." I never got in the car, saw the driver, or even saw the car. Horrendous.

@Uber_LDN I got charged 7 pounds, I was waiting in the rain in a convenient location for the driver and I feel rather scammed (and cold)

The funny thing about these apps, is that if they don't work the punters won't use them, so what are you two worrying about? :-k :-?

Remember the early Microsoft Windows and the DOS operating system? Changed days eh???? #-o

Uber is a technology platform, it doesn't have an arse and nor does it send rapists to pick up members of the public. Any abuse of the systems is carried out by a human element. The system itself works through algorithms, it simply crunches numbers to perform a calculation which, in a step-by-step operation, sends a taxi to take you to your destination.

You seem to be confusing people with computer science? #-o

Hello Skull.....stop being blinded by the nuts and bolts of the machine....it's still people using it to make themselves a pile of cash. They don't give a flying feck about drivers or punters. The law just seems to be a problem to be gotten around or ignored, whichever is easier.
That would apply just the same if they were using landlines and radios, or semaphore and carrier pigeons. The technology might be new but the scam is older than you are.

And here's me thinking you didn't realise that people were even involved in the equation #-o

Hold on to your sarky hat a minute Skull.

Gusmac is saying exactly what you have been trying to tell your ' friends' of the Edinburgh Taxi companies. As is captain cab and even les and Reggie god bless them.

Difference is with the apps available we have a real competition for our services apps are not restrained so neither are we.

No drivers then the app don't work!

If you get the punters you can auction them off to drivers. But you need the drivers or you will not keep the punters.

Power is with the driver right now ! It's us who accept the abuse or not.

These apps are just a pay-as-you-go technology like any other. And your choice will be whether to accept work from the punters dangling on the end of their phones looking to hail a cab or not. You will still get a licensed Taxi/Ph to take you to your destination. Oh and yes, women will still get attacked and raped by Cabbies/ Ph drivers but that has nothing to do with the technology.

As for the app market, it will all come down to clever marketing and advertising strategies to bring the punters and drivers on board to corner their share of the market.

And in the short term at least, these apps will be of benefit to your average cabby looking for work. :-|

The only real question left, is how aggressively these companies are prepared to market themselves to get the work? Is it free rides all around or taxi drivers signing up will only pay X% on each job for x amount of months? Who knows but there's one thing for sure, they have plenty of money to spend to make their app work.

Oh and yes, there's always the chance that Edinburgh Cabbies/Ph drivers will stay loyal to their current radio circuit and won't sign up? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

If she had used an App such as the Cordic App she wouldn't have got charged anything, to join Uber a customer and driver have to do so by using their card details, a kind of entrapment me thinks, the punters won't buy this long term, the problem though is the offer of free rides such as happened in Birmingham, guillable freebie hunting punters dive straight in without thinking of the consequences of uploading their bank details, how safe are bank details online? Uber are not safe from attack, best stick with a localised App that works through a circuit my opinion of course

Garry, let's hope you know more about dogwalking than you do about taxis, apps and technology!!

Simple facts are:-

1. You are now boring - everyone knows you hate the taxi trade and everyone in it.

2. You know little or nothing about business - hence your lack of any acumen and eventual loss of licence(s).

3. Why not find a doggy forum and tell them that there is no need for them to be insured, certificated or even experienced as the job is so simple that even you can do it? because you live in a dog eat dog world of your own!!!

4. It used to be just a bit of fun but like everything with you, you've overcooked it and the wind up is just monotonous now.

5. And finally, since according to you and your lesbian boyfriend, Jasbar, the whole taxi trade is gay (since we apparently ALL enjoy being rogered up the choccy box - a quaint expression you enjoy using) I suggest you leave us in peace with our Cadbury's and find another BONE to chew where you can LEAD others UP YOURS!

Swannee, it's nice to see you still take the time to educate yourself by reading my posts, on various subjects I might add and not just app technology. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Well that's not exactly true. Yes, I hate the taxi trade but that's no different to my general hatred of ignorant stupid sheeple that refuse to think for themselves the world over. So really you are just a small part on a long list of sheeple, that receive my contempt on a daily basis.

Businessmen do not drive taxis and I never owned a licence that I did not sell on for a healthy profit. Oh and as for telling the council to stick my taxi drivers licence where the sun doesn't shine. I'd simply had enough of working with ignorant stupid sheeple like you. I couldn't take it any more and I just wanted out. Now I just like to feel your pain.

Actually I am on a few doggy forums and what is more, I'm well read on the subject of Dog Behaviour. You see, unlike you Swannee, I do my research and I choose to educate myself on a subject before giving comment. :D

And this just shows you up for the moron that you are. You seem to recognise that you are an ignorant stupid ar*ehole but for some reason you just can't believe it. Well take if from me, it's true. =D> =D> =D>
