Have a look at the above you pair of lunatics... City Cabs is but a speck of dust blowing in a billion dollar wind.... #-o

But you agree there is a way to stop them, take them on at their own game an aw that, we offer a Ridesharing service we should be allowed to set fares too, I'd prefer they fall under the same regulation as us but Hey Ho

The way to take out Get Taxi, flood them out

If any company of local taxi drivers thinks we 'the trade' can go head to head with the likes of Uber they are in cloud cuckoo land.
We will get well and truly shafted.
Imploding within our own trade for a start!

Setting fair prices to win the trade!
Are we having a laugh?

Deregulation ?
Have we learned nothing in the last 30 yrs.

Punter doesn't win and trade doesn't win!

There has been a lot of personal stuff on here and for the most part it's no place for thin skins.
There are personal dislikes too, c'est la vie!

Start taking the constructive out of others viewpoints and looking inwardly with an objectiveness that puts the common good to the fore and the taxi trade just might do well out of storm.

Personally Cabhappy, I was starting to think that Les and Dougie just might have Uber worried? ImageImage

I took the advice of the experts, a bit of research and you'll find Uber can be taken on by the wee guy on the rank, demanding a level playing field is the way, it's our Baw and it's our rules, backed up by regulation, El facto Cab Happy :D

Hasta la vista baby

What about if Uber decided to give free rides to punters for a week or a month and picked up the tab to get taxi drivers and punters on board with their app?

That's the kind of money they have, Dougie. They might even come down to Niddry, kidnap you and sell your body parts for medical science.

What experts?

There are no experts at taking on Uber in our trade! A few short successes globally yet the tide keeps coming!

I can see you are getting there, so to me you probably have done a bit of research too.

Take the next step.

Your business model, office , expensive system, amateur committee. Let it go. Change it or move on!

Don't buy that though. Sure giving free rides for a while would put expensive run offices out of business quite quickly too.

But apps are not expensive to maintain. Once set up they can continue almost indefinitely.
Customers ain't loyal to freebies!

We have more than a Ridesharing App, we have knowledge, we are a trade worth serving, only the professionals survive, those who don't tend to take up dog walking or something like that, maybe you should try Catsitting CabHappy, you know whilst you wait on your next App job, Cmon your not a real cabbie, your a spotted nose guy from a council house in Dundee running a Taxi App called CabApp, I'm sure you mentioned a vested interest

Aye but how much work does Uber have to take before it destabilises City Cabs and CRT? My bet is, not much... These companies are not set up to take a hit from the likes of Uber. They will collapse under their own weight pretty quickly. :-| Less work and hiked radio dues don't go... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Lol.

Please yourself.
I agree a worthwhile trade. More doing a good job them detractors would have us believe.
Being 'professional' if you like is what I think is needed.
Time to cut loose the expensive umbilical to the office. That comfort source is going to dry up but not before it takes what it needs to survive as long as possible and sucks the lifeblood out of all that are attached to it.

BTW the spot on my nose will probably have cleared up by the morning.
