Here is the reply from the council for the contact details of the district auditor.

Dear xxxxxxx

Thank you for your email and sorry for the delayed response but there was no one in the licencing team on Friday for us to obtain the information you required.

I have spoken to xxxxxxx who has advised that he has sent your request to our internal auditors for them to respond to you direct.

If I can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to contact me.

Quite interesting? Why would they need to speak to licensing to give me the contact details of the district auditor? The person that was spoken to is, wait for it, the head of regulatory services?
Do I detect a fobbing off is due? Will the district auditor be someone in the internal auditing department?

I detect bullshit.

I have again requested the contact details for the district auditor.
I have written to all the Councillors on the committee that is meeting tomorrow evening. i wonder if my letter will get a mention by any of the Councillors?
I will be going to the meeting to hear what is said.

Perhaps there playing for time.
The Audit Commission will close on 31 March 2015 as enabled by the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.

I would like to say that I don't believe it but unfortunately I do believe it. There is a meeting of the committee next week and the proposed fee increase is again on the agenda and the department are again proposing the same increase without providing any additional information or time study just stating that they believe that the farce of the time recording carried out in 2013 is robust and will stand up to scrutiny. Do they think that just because i am now a Councillor I will just let this go? I am in the process of compiling a report that will show that despite the officers stating that they are only achieving 51% of cost recovery that they are in fact, when calculated correctly, they are running at a surplus.

Why not turn the tables on them, by sending a letter signed by as many as you can get, stating that due to over inflated rises in licence fees, school contract prices will also have to increase, by the same percentage, to cover costs

keep us upto date on your progress please Grandad ..............................but be careful what you publish on here........confidentiality etc ........................for sure someone will atempt to drop you in it given the opportunity

What a wonderful idea Skippy, except that licensing is done by the borough Council and school transport is County Council.
