last time i looked the only place purpose built taxis are used is in the uk, one wonders why?

Why pay £30,000 for a cab when we can go and get one for £13,000? They do the same job at the end of the day.

How many times do you see a London Cabbie with 5 people in? How many times do you see a London Cabbie with a wheelchair in? The answer is NONE, because there will be £10 on the meter before they get the chair in.

How many London cabs going about their work can you see from Mansfield? Don't tell me you have made a trip to London once or twice so that qualifies you to make an assesment on this.

I see many, daily, and they often take 5 people. And in the evening when the night rate kicks in even more 5 handers abound.

No wheel chair trips in London Cabs, really? Are you aware that many Borough disabled accounts go to London cabs? Are you also aware that the disabled have access to a disabled travel card that permits them to hire cabs from the street?

£10 on the meter before a wheel chair bound passenger moves off? Rubbish. Most drivers I know on a street hiring do not engage the meter until he / she has helped the passenger into the cab and the flag drop would be £2.

More scurrilous anti London sentiment from the likes of you.

It really does defy belief that you, whether working in London at some period or not, will know better than someone whose does the job daily.

During the evening I have had countless groups who want to load up with six and even seven asking if two could sit on the floor.

From your reply I take it you withdraw the wheelchair and £10 post.

So Claude/Joe/ Maurice

On these Council contracts for the disabled that the big truimvirate share? Don't you start the meter when given the job (up to three quid or something). Don't the Association or whatever you wish to call it then add a nice little percentage for the administration of the Account?

That means the disabled person is discriminated against just like your major corporate accounts.

When you have finished blowing your top over that part of my post perhaps you could tell us your views on Mr Cox's idea at Radio Taxis of running a fleet of Mercedes Private Hire vehicles on his circuit 'because that is what are customers demand'. Surprised Mr Rice didn't beat him to that innovation, he normally leads the way doesn't he.

I don't do blowing top's. I leave that to the little people.

Far from being discriminated against the disabled get a very good deal from the disabled accounts. Most of the charge comes out of the public purse. That is what we do in the civilised world. But what would you know about that little man?

If you read the post I said;- >>...." Most drivers I know on a street hiring do not engage the meter until he / she has helped the passenger into the cab and the flag drop would be £2...."<<

Got it slow boy! I said a street hiring.

Don't make it up as you go along and do nail your colours who are you what are you. You seem to know of me. How about you? Come one mate get into the light don't skulk under the stone.

All this reading of the London site and you still get it wrong.

didnt you? how long have you been in the industry then? London Cabbies keep going an army in public Carriage office, printers all over the country meters? gawd they must have 2 to a cab floating around so much so the coach builders have been told that if they get into the London Market free meters will be given to them! but London will have to rent them!

bet anonomous you are not a London Cabbie, you just aint got real knowledge and it shows!

Which Brings me round to another point, I notice that there is hardly fighting in Londons streets to get the carriage office to accept skodas as taxis to help disabled people or those that cannot get in cabs.

or am I mistaken Claude?

Don't you lot drive proper taxis then? This is not another of those sites that purport to be a taxi site but in effect is the PH a%se end of things is it?

Please enlighten me.

It's for taxis and PH, ie taxis in the colloquial sense. You'd have found that out if you'd bothered to read the information on the site.

Your description of PH is generalising a bit Maurice, you'll be aware that much of the taxi sector is better than PH, but there are plenty PH that make taxis the a%$e end, as you so delightfully put it.

And in other places they are effectively one and the same.

Quite right Maurice, that was the first thing I noticed about your post, you didn't say how much the circuits would charge until the matter was brought up indirectly, you were obviously hoping that no one would notice.

You also said 'most' regarding drivers kicking the meter off when the wheelchair passenger was in the cab. So how many start it before the passenger is in the cab, 49%???
