Uber already licensed in Manchester and Leeds; in fact here's a video of a Leeds Uber working Manchester which is still illegal if I'm not mistaken, he picks up at Oxford Road station and drops in a suburb of Manchester 16 minutes later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWOvXkEcF9U here's the same one in a suburb of Manchester 2 weeks previously with passenger on board https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlc-eBlYvMc

Why would any driver want to work for them, paying their 20% commission when you can work on a busy circuit for £100 a week.

It just means your paying their cut from each job you do, instead of paying it weekly all in one go.

Works best for those working part-time, or working for other apps/circuits. Also if that busy circuit, suddenly doesn't become busy, you still have to pay that £100.

I work for three apps in London (amongst other work), I'd rather not pay each of them £100 a week, especially as I sometimes I don't make at least £100 in fares from each of them anyway.

Very interesting they seem to be going to the areas where there are big PH fleets.

London, Manchester, Leeds, Portsmouth, Liverpool.

But I'm surprised they haven't gone after the airports.

There'll be a customer base in places where there are big PH fleets.

However, it's surprising the latest city they've recently started out in, is Wakefield.

Most cities, have fixed flat rates to airports, only London is the only UK city (as far as I am aware) to have fixed rates to Heathrow and Gatwick (London City used to be included, but now it's at the usual rate).

There's a queuing/plot system in place at Heathrow and Gatwick, so it's not the nearest driver to the pick up which gets the job, it depends where you are in the queue, which you automatically join if you're empty in the area of the airport.
