All you street cars should get loaded up with apps. Forget about City Cabs. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

It would have to be the street cabs Skull as cabs affiliated to a Taxi Company are not permitted to use the Apps as per the rules of the Association.

Question for you Skull. When did Uber announce their intention to offer their service in Edinburgh?

Don't tell me, this is the, Les only found out about UBER early this year, when UBER announced their intentions to offer services in Edinburgh, bollocks!! Les admitted to being "fully aware" of UBER's intentions for some time and it's not like they've been keeping their expansion plans a secret. #-o #-o #-o #-o

The FACT is, both committees should have informed their shareholder of the threat to their company posed by UBER. It's what office-bearers are supposed to do and it's their duty under company law. #-o #-o #-o #-o But then again, why would they with their gravy train to protect? #-o #-o #-o #-o

Oh and I don't believe the rules of association even mention electronic hailing devices such as apps. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Oh and Kaizer, every-time you do something that creates even more division within your trade such as telling street cabs they can't use apps, you create resentment and a rod for your own back. #-o

Wrong again Skull. City Cabs Association Rules 3:22. You've evaded the question Skull. When did they announce their intention publicly?

Do you think that the standard of driver can be monitored by the App companies? Could an unlicensed cab turn up and abuse the passenger? Back in the late 60's Stina had a very unpleasant encounter with an unlicensed cab driver in Artur's homeland. She thought she was getting in a proper taxi but sadly the driver was a rouge. When they got to Stina's destination instead of stopping at the front of the building where Stina had said he tried to take her in the back entrance which was dimly lit.
Surly the drivers and vehicles have to be vetted? You could possibly help in that department Skull with your experience in the K9 field.

A booking "By any means of communication", 7.3 in the best practice guidlines  An App falls under that Skull   We could argue that Uber & Get Taxi who take bookings by a means of communication are in fact transportation companies, Uber are applying for a booking office licence (accepting they are a transportation company or are they?) but Get Taxi in my opinion are acting outwith the law.

I'd hope Uber are made to act within current regulations but given their track record worldwide I doubt it, I hope our regulators see it based on track record, I hope our regulators ask Uber to give guarantees and promises to act solely as private hire and accept regulation and pricing as it stands, Uber won't they act above regulation, If Uber are granted I can see many objections based on their working practices and track record, I have a feeling this application may drag on for quite a while.

Uber
Quote:
Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our apps, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in hundreds of cities today, Uber's rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.

CityCabs offer very attractive credit payments to pay up joining fees over a period of time. We also take less per job than the App companies if you are a radio worker.
We also make a cast iron promise to our customers that all of our vehicles and drivers are fully vetted have a full current Enhanced Disclosure and it will not be a Ford Focus with an unlicecenced driver turning up to pick up our passengers Democratisation or not.
Also what the passenger pays is what is shown on the meter not what is quoted over the phone by a system measuring post codes. Neither do we charge fictitious waiting time rates.

The Uber booking office licence application is due to be heard tomorrow by the Licensing and Regulatory Committee.

Could I also add the extras I make from radio work also adds up to a significant portion of my circuit fees, Les feel free to use the number of radio jobs I do per month, times that number by 80p, this will show how much I make that I wouldn't on the street :D

I did work the street for over 5 years
