Your very cynical Skull. It was a genuine question? I know you will know the conditions inside out.

I'll tell you what I saw today. In the back of a street car on the partition. To the left a sign saying CASH ONLY, and to the right a sign for GET TAXI. Which one is it? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Well the way I see it, is that these apps are highly adaptable, it's whatever you want them to be, the choice is yours.

I lost my phone tonight in a coffee bar and never had the tracking app installed. So I sent it remotely via my google account to my phone and activated it from my sisters phone with an SMS message and bob's your uncle... accurate to within 22 meters, it's still in the cafe. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Kaizer, the future is bright, the future is UBER... Oh and trust me on this, apps are taking over... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I like the Apps, I'm not sure I like those that take 20% of a drivers income tho, that's just the same as paying base rent imo.

It's not the same as paying rent. If you don't turn up to work the app you don't pay - simples. :-|

Yeah I get that bit, but, for those drivers that work regular hours it's the same.

No it's not because that's one of the reasons that keeps you out working, the rent is a fixed cost whether you work or not.

Pay - As - You - Go does exactly what it says on the tin. :-|

Drivers that have a set amount they need to earn will not be any better off with an App that costs 20% of your income. If a driver needs to earn £500 pw it's still going to cost them £600 to do it. I think 10% or a fixed rate is more reasonable. The obvious other advantages may well outweigh the % it costs for the work tho.

Well that will come down to how competitive the app market is and how much negotiating power the drivers have. :-| At the end of the day, they are the service provider. However, if they can't organise to negotiate their services then it's SNAFU. :-| Oh and no one is forcing anyone to work an app. =D> =D> =D> =D>

I'm presuming that Edinburgh Council will only let licensed council vehicles in Edinburgh work for Uber?

Was wondering why that would be an advantage if you already work for an edinburgh company.
I presume for someone that does not have much work and has a private plate they could make more.

If you do require an Edinburgh private plate what is to stop Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy drivers applying for private plates or anyone else that feels they could make some money.

It's new news and I can see from the article that uber intend to use licensed vehicles in Edinburgh, don't know if this means just edinburgh licenses or any taxi license.

Talk in Fife ranks, is people want to work for uber when it's quiet and work on the weekends and the festival to make more money.

Will be interesting to see how this pans out. To far for me lol.

Looks to me that Edinburgh Council is playing along with uber because they can't fight them legally, and they hope that the rules of there license will make UBER fail, big gamble for you licensed taxis if Uber gets a market that makes them profit. I'm sure there are plenty of desperate people out there wanting to make a few bucks anyway they can.

Dougie, you are correct. You told me to read what was being said on this forum. I've now done that and your right, it's full of pedantic idiots. FYI TRTD. That means " for your information the real taxi driver" I personaaly think your the 'real taxi cu&t"
Your post refers to me having an 8 seater vehicle and that I used to run the vending machines at the Airport. If anyone is unsure of who I am? I am V37 Ritchie Callaghan although I'm sure I have many other names lol. I'm sorry Kaizer that youve been outed as me, it may be a compliment? Who knows?

Now let's see if "the real taxi cu&t" has the bottle to post who he is? No need to wait and see. Lol

To "TRTC" I don't have anything to do with the Vending Machines now. A very good friend of mine has now taken them over. He has now been doing them for 12 months. He hasn't taken long to work out the mentality of the taxi driver. Come in "The Real Taxi Cu&t" reveal yourself you bottle bag.
