Apart from one being legal and the other not.

The law is only for
TELEVISION RECEIVING APPARATUS
In this regulation means any cathode ray tube carried on a vehicle and on which there can be displayed an image derived from a television broadcast, a recording or a camera or computer.

It's hardly in my eye line and if anyone thinks this doesn't help driver / passenger safety I would be astonished.

I also have 2 (still) feeds for my front garden and back - if the light comes on I can see straight away if its a cat or someone looking to screw my house over.

As previously said - it's only around 1 in square and certainly doesn't disrupt my driving.

I think someone pointed out that I could claim it "(d) assists the driver to reach his destination". Which it does - it helps get passengers to their destination safely. If there is fighting / arguing in the cab I can see and pull over before it gets out of hand.

If this is the case, why do divers get prosecuted for watching stuff on their mobile phones?

Because it's classed as a television receiving device.

Which would make what this chap is using a television receiving device and therfore illegal. He may be hard pressed to convince a court that a live feed from his garden is assisting the passenger to get to their destination.

It very straightforward to stop that feed and place it "out of of eye line" on a different device if need be.

Any positives now that you have seen the device Grandad? Do you still believe the size of the feed being shown is unacceptable - I could plant a huge 8 in tablet right in front of me with the latest "waze" or Tom Tom application together with maybe an office device and my 6 in mobile phone...maybe even a holder for my visa payment device.yeah....might do that..... Not illegal, but bloody stupid.

.....waiting for the paragraph posting or article stating a windscreen should be visible at all times  .....
