Why doesn't your radio firm just take block bookings from the night-club?

Say they have 200 people inside, then the owner of the club can ring your firm and book 50 cars. Those cars should be waiting outside for club customers.

Just a thought.

black hacks CAN come into the village and ply for trade if they want to but....to be honest here....
there are a number of things to consider......
there are around 7 taxi companys in my village...mostly have 1 owner car...
ours is the biggest @ 5 cars and 1 people carrier ( i know, dont laugh...it is only a small village guys  )... the village is so er....close ... they actually resent OUTSIDERS coming in..christ, even the young ones coming here on holiday have to be careful not to get a kicking from the local young ones just because they are not from the village  .
the cops know that there would be a public uproar ( so to speak ) against any black hack that DID venture into the village and ply for trade...after all...most of the people that do P/H, this is all they do for a living....and, 80% of there customers are local.
small village = everybody knows everybody and the locals tend to look after them selfs.

another point is......there are NO meters here in any of the cabs ( obviously ) so there is a set fare of £2.50 anywhere in town but.....if someone wants to stop for a packet of fags, nip onto the p/o, drop the shopping into granny ect....we usually dont charge em as long as they are quick...if they take any longer than 5/6 mins, we stick 50p on top of the £2.50 fare....
and we always get a tip on top of that !!
black hacks....er...meter running all time .

sorry to all you guys who drive the hacks but, the locals here just dont like ya at all....
there was one guy from ayr who came here with his hack to work.....er...
he lasted 2 wk ends and got hunted out  .
i moved here 12 yr ago from coatbridge, and it took me close to 2/3 yr to get accepted by the locals !!

er..we dont have 50 dam cars to do that m8  .
lucky if we have 20.
and because they are around 6/7 differant ( most 1 owner cars ) companys / owners...they are ALL trying to get the trade independantly

the police let us sit ( in rank if thats what you can call it ) outside the club and take people home without any bother....
but as one cop told me.... you guys are doing US a favour by taking the assholes away from the club as quickly as possible, so they dont start fights ect...

Until someone has an accident, and decides to seek compensation.

Then your insuance company will wish to know where the third party booked you, then when they find out you have done an Illegal pick up, they will turn down the claim.

Then Mr and Mrs Third party will turn to you for compensation, so goodbye car and house if they are succesful.

'But Strathclyde Police let us' you will cry! Tell me what do you think Strathclyde's Police official line will be?

Exactly.

So things are great when its all running smoothly, but nothing lasts for ever, accidents WILL happen at sometime.

As I come from Scotland, tell me where this 'village' is, I would be interested to get some more view points and coroboration on the situation from other members of the site who work this area.

so why dont you all apply for a HC licnece and keep doing the phone work as well? as is the norm in small towns/villages.

Mr bigj2552, someone called Mr Skull (and he is very big  ) is going to be very cross.

Not because you are picking up as a PH, oh no, but because you have nicked his avatar. [-X

I suggest you have a look at this thread, before the Skull comes back on. :D

For £2.50 a run, I doubt you will get too much grief from the black cab boys. :-k

So you still have'nt told us where this no go area for taxi's is Mr 2552?

I spent a lot of my youth in the SW of Scotland, and can't ever think of an area as you describe. :?

You make it sound like Brixton.

Would there be demonstrations and sit down protests if a 'Taxi' dared venture into the area?

What if a convicted Paedophile moved in? Would they hang him and quarter him? Would Strathclyde Police turn a blind eye to this as well as 'its helping them out'

Hmm. :?

no..the police dont turn a blind eye to everything...dont be silly..they still gotta do there job...but you gotta understand...village live is way differant to big towns / citys ect...everybody knows everybody and outsiders tend to be frowned at..more so if they come in and start to throw there weight around....
and NO..its not brixton... ..jeez....all i,m saying is....

there are NO hacks here...nobody wants em....punters or other P/H companys...simple !..all the P/H companys are ALL local people...

i know what you mean, i was brought up in a small village and we hated those bloody townies. your right that thing are different in the country and city types dont understand it all (just look at foxhunting for example).

i went back to the village a couple of years ago for a funeral of a family friend and now the place seems to have been taken over by well off types escaping the foreigners in the city or they use it as their second holiday homes. got to the point now where the locals cant afford to live in the village they were born in.

Are we starting to see a revolt by the Country bumpkins  I have found that it is the other way round in the City, with bumpkins working here while enjoying the lower costs of country living.
