just HOW do these people get the job?
Phoned my LA yesterday with a few questions regarding putting my new car on :
Me: Once my cars pitted I can start work straight away ?
LO: Yes once its passed.
Me: Even without a plate ?
LO: Er, no you'll need to display a valid plate.
Me: So I just come and pick the plate up after its passed ?
LO: They take about 10 days to produce.
Me: So if i give you the car details now you'll make up the plate so it'll be ready by the time the pits due ?
LO: We don't make the plate until after its passed its pit test.
Me: Why not ?
LO: Because it might not pass the pit.
Me: But it's a brand new car !!
LO: Yeah, but it doesn't mean it'll pass !
Me: So I might not be able to work until ten days after I pass the pit test ?
LO: Not neccessarily, if you come down after the pit we should be able to knock one up in a few minutes if you wait.
Me: So it doesn't take ten days ?
LO: Sometimes, we always say allow ten days.
Me: So will you be able to do it straight away, or will it take 'up to ten days' ?
LO: Err, dunno.

A few minutes later I get a call back ;
LO: Had a word with the boss and he says just use your old plate until you get the new one.
Me: But that relates to a different vehicle !!
LO: Yeah, it's just to show the public that it's a licensed vehicle - as long as we know it's been pitted and licensed you'll have no problems.
