The difference is that if they have a local office licensed by the local authority then ultimately they will be answerable to that local authority. It aint rocket science!

They do have offices, but not in the normal taxi/ph sense. This offices are rooms with computers/servers.

If the council want to check anything they can either be faxed what they want 24/7 or be given an on-line log in.

If no one is in the office answering a phone the council won't be able to request the information.

That's why a smart App provider will give the council online login access. Apart from that according to you nobody answers the phone anyway

So tell me Toots, Do UBER offer the Councils online login access and a training course on how to access the information that they would require? And how would this sit with data protection?

How do I know I don't work for Uber. I do know my app gives them access to all the information they need, all the information they already have access to but instead of me having to send it by email they can access it when they want, not entirely sure what difference that makes to Data Protection because they already have the right to see it anyway. Just because Uber is currently the App everybody is talking about it doesn't mean it's the only App and it doesn't mean they all work the same. There is no need for an actual office in every location a company works to satisfy the needs of the council and that is my point and as I said earlier what if the passenger booked via a taxi App, where is their office for complaints/information?

It doesn't matter so long as they get good after sales/journey service the public won't care

Correct me if I am wrong but i thought this thread was about UBER coming to Bolton and how they do things and not about your company and how you do things.

It is indeed and I still believe they DON'T need an office in Bolton for all the reasons I've stated and you've found unfounded exception too. As I said also if it was a taxi App there would be no office so what is the difference except to allow the council access to the records, which I used my method to explain to you as simply as I could. It should be up to the council to decide what they find acceptable and ensure that companies follow the regulations the put in place.
