What about the workers who are on continental shifts who work weekends and bank holidays for no extra, do they like being charged T2?

I think you've forgot that there aren't many places left that work Monday to Friday with weekends off meaning if workers go in on a weekend they get double time. It doesn't happen any more we're in a 7 day a week society now.

you mean those who are on £40 odd quid an hour?

f8ck em

if a cab driver is gonna work bank holidays he or she should be paid appropriately

No I mean them who work in the care sector, wharehousing and in shops on normal time on Bank Holidays. They don't get any extra.

Without sounding callous, their employment conditions are their problem. Mine are mine and I'm not running a bloody charity.
If they're not happy, they can sort it out with their employers, catch the limited bus service, walk or get on their bike. 8)

So someone who's on £7 per hour gets a cab from home to work, a two mile journey is going to wipe out two hours of their wages.

Your all fuckin heart.

correct , we already give up our weekends so a little extra on a bank holiday wouldn't be a problem, they expect it tbh, when i hit the meter & they see the flag the say " thought it would be more today, that's while they are on the way to the pub for the day  " that was the 1st & last bank hol on normal rates for me

I think it's madness charging meter and a half on a bank holiday.

Absolute madness.

why? i don't work bank hols anymore for that reason, they stopped it & went on normal rates, why should i give up my bank holiday to take people to work who are on double time , for a normal rate? i honestly cant comprehend the way taxi firms work, the public will be getting them for nothing soon

I didn't say they should work at normal rate, but what other transport business charges 50% extra on a bank holiday day?

What other service requires 1 staff to 1-4 passengers and a dedicated vehicle?

and last time i checked BR and National Express drivers were PAYE, getting holidays per year and not having to invest in the train/bus service, or did i miss something?

Plumbers charge extra for bank holidays IF yo can find one

Plenty here, we have distribution sites which are nowhere near any bus routes, and they have a job they want to keep.....or they can try signing on but wont get anything
