has anyone checked how many votes the SNP got in the GE against the Yes/No vote for Independence?

hang on

GE = SNP 1,454,436

Referendum

Yes = 1,617,989
No = 2,001,926

So FEWER voted for the SNP than voted YES.....obviously the Sweaty Socks aint so daft after all

Sure that is the way the vote went..... that was then! I would guess that If a referendum was held right now then Scottish fervor would reverse the original vote. On top of that you have the Nicola Sturgeon effect, and that at the moment is priceless.

I pointed out on another thread that sixteen year olds voted in the referendum you have to be eighteen to vote in a general election.

In large parts of England, Labour's disillusioned core vote has gone to UKIP and the Greens.

I doubt that they voted for a more right wing part than the Tories.

I know that some will disagree but over the last 40 years or so most people have seen a rise in their lifestyle. Because of this they don't think of themselves as "working class" anymore. They see themselves as "middle class" and as such they don't feel the need for the far left, they have moved more to the centre politically. So we now have basically 3 parties trying to gain control of the political centre ground. The Tories are just right of centre and labour, under Blair moved to within a whisker of the same position and he won. So moving even the slightest bit back to the left may have suited the Labour ideologists but that was not what the voters wanted and Labour paid the price.

Fear and Greed ah Thatcherism at its best, that was the old witches plan, create a nation of "I'm alright Jackers", feck the poor and the needy, we all know Capitalists need the poor and the vulnerable and not only to enslave but also to blame, the fact Labour voters swallowed the fear over a Labour/SNP coalition proves the shallowness of the I'm all right Jack brigade, little do those who consider themselves middle class know is they are the class that gets shafted the most, the poor rebel but the middle class just put up and shut up.

So how come the Tories nicked a few UKIP policies?

I think people get mixed up in class systems too much tbh

Its about wealth - not class - the have's and have not's.

Then you'd be wrong.
Many believe that UKIP cares about them, including the disabled, elderly and unemployed.
Many more have bought into the "bad foreigners taking our jobs/benefits/housing etc" line they punt at anyone who will listen - including the Labour and Tory parties who have both jumped on that bandwagon.

Like it or not, 4 million people up and down the country voted for UKIP. Try asking them why.

Spot on Gus

The pure and simple fact is that people south of the border have been seriously let down by political parties

UKIP could have beaten the fraud drum (if they weren't so drawn in with it themselves) - nobody seemed to mention the expenses scandals in Westminster during the election.

It didn't get really dirty by any national debate mentioning Rotherham and political parties ignoring it.

In short they're all c*nts

The great British public have given them the thumbs-up and have sanctioned all the nasty, heartless crap they've pulled over the past five years. Anyone who thought the last five years were $hit should look away now. And keep looking away.They have made the middle think we're all scroungers and benefit cheats,whilst the rich get richer.Beggars belief to me these c NuTs are back in.Delicious it ain't !
