At least she has experience of the real world - and I don't mean the playing fields of Eton.
No vested interests in companies benefiting from govt policy or a track record of covering up for paedophiles either.
I think she will do well, but time will tell.

I think she'll do well personally as well - I think she'll have to prove the doubters wrong - no doubt she'll have a team supporting her to help her with her constituents (paid for by the UK I should add ;) )

But perception is important - its really strange that her tweets are coming through now - and not during the election.....lucky girl imo

I wish her well, but I think that she will be well out of her depth. If I remember correctly most 20 year olds also start out wanting to change the world............and then disbelievingly you find out how corrupt the world/the U.K is. Not knowing how to handle it........her world will fall apart, she is far too young.

I agree, but I'm not sure I would be happy asking a 20 year old student to sort out any concerns that I would wish my MP to deal with.

Would you?

Doesn't it tell you something about the 'election' north of the border?

Indeed it does, it tells me that SNP's ambitions are massively bigger than their actual abilities.

It also tells me that a chunky pecrentage of our electorate are little more than dozy gullible numpties that would vote for a bairn with no experience in anything other than the uses and abuses of Twitter and Facebook...or in her case Twitbook.

A sad day for all, Countries up the creek and this is the fechin best we can hope for...no thanks.

And the SNP have spent the last few years ripping the p*** out of him because of that.

It seems the SNP have one phrase for others, and one for themselves.

An interesting article below on one and the same woman - a Jack Straw intervention at the bottom.....now why would he do that?

Bernadette McAliskey
Mrs McAliskey was elected to parliament in 1969

News report on the McAliskey shooting

In Context
Bernadette McAliskey was the youngest-ever woman MP when she was elected at the age of 21 in 1969.

She served as the Independent Unity member for Mid Ulster from 1969-73.

As an MP, she continued to champion the cause of catholics in Northern Ireland. She was imprisoned for her part in the sectarian riots in Londonderry in August 1969, which led to the deaths of five people and the deployment of troops in the province.

After her marriage in 1974 she faded from public view until her involvement in the H-block campaign.

In October 1993, she gave evidence to a court in San Francisco on behalf of James Smyth, who escaped from the Maze in 1983. He was fighting the British government's attempts to extradite him.

More recently, Mrs McAliskey fought the extradition of her daughter, Roisin, to Germany, where she is wanted for questioning about the IRA bombing of the Osnabruck base in 1996.

Roisin's extradition to Germany was blocked in March 1998 by the Home Secretary, Jack Straw, on medical grounds.
