Woman sexually assaulted on Jesmond's Osborne Road by taxi driver A woman has been assaulted by a man thought to be a taxi driver on Jesmond’s Osborne Road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 3am on Monday, May 4.
Officers especially want to speak to two who are believed to have been walking down Lilly Avenue at the time and may have spoken to the 20-year-old victim after the incident.
Northumbria Police’s Neighbourhood Inspector for the area, Neil Brotherton, said: “Enquiries are being carried out into the incident and we would ask any witnesses to come forward. In particular we’re keen to speak to two men who spoke to the woman after the incident as they could be key witnesses.
“I would like to stress these two men are being treated as witnesses, they may have seen the offender and be able us to identify him.
“Officers carry out regular patrols in the area to offer reassurance to residents and I would urge anyone concerned to speak to an officer.”
