It'll just about cover the cost of getting rid of the assorted bodily odours that may be caused through being transported by unlicenced drivers doing Hire for reward work without any checks as to their fitness and or ability to carry out such work.

That to you and I is 90 Pence per mile..not bad for a scammy little volunteer working for a scammy larger pseudo charity mob whilst using a non plated private car on Social and Domestic insurance to hurl the genuinely sick and the terminally workshy about.

When i was plated but running for the ambulance i had work all day in-out-in again - non stop never just the 1 job, didnt get waiting time but didnt wait, had another pickup to bring in, the fun started when 2 "outs" were ready together so i doubled up, at 45p that would be 90p/mile out and 2 x 45p/miles in again, no one checked...

i now do ambulance work for the base and get the same as any other job, plus £2 for extra drops, 1 8 mile run with 3 in the car yesterday was £14

An 8 mile fare at tariff 1 here is £14.80. Even at double fare we can't get near to your £32.00. Please show me anywhere that has a running mile rate of £4.00 per mile on tariff 1?

TT you have to screw your business head on...................outside of London it is a different ball game altogether.

I get people down here in "Cardiff" who are from London paying a £12 fare. Wow! in London that would have been £60, they say. We are not a City full of rich immigrants/tourists....just retail, Call centres, national minimum wage etc....you have to cut your cloth accordingly.

Point taken John but from where i am the industry undersells itself outside of London which is why Drivers work more hours for less money than in any other industry :D

8 miles for 14 lumps is the fare of cretins ffs this is 2015 not 1985 #-o

And of course in London us pensioners can travel by rail tube and bus for free anywhere within the M25 in effect thanks to me old mucker Ken Livingstone =D> =D> =D>

There are obviously peaks and troughs in terms of pockets of money around the country, some will do very well, others will find it hard, but nevertheless better than being unemployed. Practically every small business man/woman that I know.....always pleads poverty! and yet! 30 years later they are still there doing it. Taxi drivers of course are the worlds worst/biggest BS....ers that you will ever come across, you talk to one and he is earning a fortune, you talk to another and he is on the bones of his ar$e.....both from the same manor, in reality you never get the truth!

As such it is not great in Cardiff for a taxi driver, as it was saturated by the L.A from 450 to 967 hacks - apparently more per head than London. Having said that, given my (I know cliché) my life over again, and if it were pubs 26 years, Or drive a cab....then it would be a no brainer, insomuch that a cab would win every time. The bottom line being and with the right mentality you can still make money - it would not be done 9 to 5, but there again I have not worked 9 to 5 since I was a sixteen year old.......lots and lots of years ago. If you are not prepared to be flexible.....then you will struggle big time - I do ok.
