I have always understood it to be that "We" are responsible for any child of 14 years of age and younger. Anyone above that age is deemed to know that they should by law belt up.

1. What is the law regarding carrying children in pushchairs?

It mustn't happen. Take child out of buggy.

2. What is the law regarding children and door child locks. I.e. what age before you don't use them?

I would use them all the time with kids. But google seems to be telling me there are no specific laws.

3. Do you have to carry a copy of insurance on private hire vehicles?

No, unless your local taxi bylaws say you must.

Theres's not always a parent with them...at least not on my School runs. Even if there were adults travelling with them it does not follow that these adults are their parents So It's the drivers responsibility like it or not.

First fare a week last Friday three adults and two children - are the children belted up? yeah drive lets go! Umm I can see that the one is not belted up....come on drive (angry mode) lets go....Me.....not until the children are seat belted. I nearly had a full scale argument from an 18 stone package of blubber who thought he could get arsey - that is what we are dealing with.

The bottom line being is that if you/I do not take that responsibility/decision...then you can expect the blame game to be firmly put on the driver if the poop hits the fan. Parents who would fu%k!^g have them.

Yellow lines hold the same law for ph/taxi drivers as normal drivers.

We are still obliged to follow normal drivibg regulations. Ok, seatbelts do not need to be worn when hired. But nothing else really.

Yes, loading and unloading punters is no different than loading and unloaded goods.

So! In effect a child in a pram or a pushchair is permissible in a taxi, yes/no?

Another quick question. Say you are licensed for 4 persons and a family consisting of mother and father 2 children and a baby wish to travel. Is the baby still classed as a passenger so this wouldn't be permitted?

You are licensed for 4 persons. Which of these 5 would you consider isn't a person?
