Paper part of your licence ended today.

Just the pink card from now on.

No you wont.

You can give up to 72 hours notice and get the info online or the company can check online straight away.

What if I want to hire a car?

If you’re hiring a car abroad you’ll only have to provide your photocard licence, but before you leave for your holiday you’ll have to log in to your record online to generate a code for the hire company to use to access the details.

Alternatively, the car hire company may continue to use the car hire line (09061 393837) – but you must first phone the Customer Enquiries Group on 0300 790 6801 and give them permission to discuss your record.

As stated previously, my insurance company still insist on a copy of the paper counterpart. Could be interesting.

The lady next door to me listened to her man's Incorrect advice and sent in her Old Pink Paper Licence needlessly and at price after he read the Paper Bit was being being made redundant..now she's got a Photo licence, I wonder how many others made a similar costly error.?

I've hired cars abroad several times and have never been asked for the paper part of the licence.

So does mine, in fact I had an email from them today informing me that I'd still need to keep a hold of it. Apparently it's only for new applicants of Driving licences.
