sat on the rank and Mr Drunk came along, 3 sheets to the wind, but this guy is actually a bit of a laugh, polite and always pays, hes no trouble (he needed a ATM on the way home but knew his PIN)....lol

as he got in a woman came to me and said...

She "Do you know hes drunk"?

Me ""really? i had noticed"

She "you cant have him in the car"

Me "Why?"

She "Cos hes drunk"

Me "and?................its what we do"

With that she returned to her family for a discussion

The old boy was no trouble, got his cash, paid me and was last seen tottering into his house

I don't have a problem working a Saturday night without taking drunks.

This guy is probably better behaved when drunk than most are sober, and he tipped me, and he was polite

It was the womans attitude that made me laugh

I had one Saturday night, some drivers refused to take him because he looked a wrong one, he got in the car and turned out to be one of the best drives I had all night. £25 job he gave me £30 and said get yourself a drink.

The thing is there are different degrees of drunkeness and different types of drunk the regular mature drinker is normally no problem as they know how to handle there drink and still treat others with respect, this doesn't apply to a lot off others.
At the end of the day if you work weekend nights you have to learn to judge the ones to turn away for instance never ever take a very drunk woman on there own as you are leaving yourself open to very serious problems, I did it just the once never again she fell asleep woke up didn't have a clue where she was or where she was going and tried getting out of the back of my car at 30 mph.

Ditto =D>

I work on the basis of; If they do not look right/safe then it is a no,no. This is not cherry picking in the true sense of cherry picking, it is about safety, it is about not wanting someone chucking up in your/my car/cab. It is also a story about a passenger practically going comatose some years ago who took 5/6 minutes to wake up the other end, as it happens it was a male, that 5/6 minutes seemed an endless age! can you imagine if you had even touched the arm of a female in an attempt to wake her up! I/you could have had all sorts of accusations made against me, in her mind they may have been true, but then have to take that home to my/your family and prove that nothing took place - but mud sticks.

As the above post says/indicates says; I will never knowingly take a single drunk woman on her own, in fact I will not take take anyone in a group that is obviously drunk, intoxicated/merry is slightly different.

Good posts, yeah drunk people are common but most are alright , you get a sense for who to pick up and who not to pick up after a while. Some that slip through the net though .

I find its the younger drinkers to avoid, the 40's and up realise a) they need to get home and b) paying for booze and throwing it up is a waste
