Taxi Driver Online

One of our drivers recently bought a car on HP and the agreement states that the car can't be used as a Hackney Carriage or a Private Hire vehicle. So not such a silly statement. If you are buying on HP you do not own the vehicle and the owner can take the vehicle back if you use it for something that they say you can't use it for.
Also, I have looked into leasing vehicles before and some of those contracts exclude the use for hackney Carriage and Private Hire.

Well it does'nt matter as my finance is fine with it .
Not a chance i will be paying £170 per week for a settle car .
Most people use settle cars because they have not got the money to pay for a newish low mileage car or because they have bad credit and have no choice but get a settle car. A have have added all the numbers up and even if you had to pay out over £1000 of repairs per year your still over £2000/£3000 better off .
You would be a mug paying £8000/£9000 a year for a settle car .

Does that include the radio/pda settle?

Radio / PDA is the same for a car owner or settle car driver with delta . £95 per week

So is that on top of the £170?

A "just add fuel" car in Lichfield is £320 x 50 weeks = £16,000

well thank god i own my own car and its new and reliable .
just got a load of insurance quotes today all between £3800 and £4000 for my first year .
and radio settle is £95 per week .
£8940 for the year .

Well that's ok because they take more than 10 million calls a year so you should be ok I'll let you do the maths

bumped into 1 of my old school mates the other day and he has been on for davy liver , acorn and is now with delta for the past 9 months and he said he is doubling his money with delta , he said you pick up in bootle drop off in town , then you get a fare town to Speke , then you will get a fare in Speke . But with the other firms there so small they only get fares in small areas so when you get a fare to bootle then you could never get a return fare anywhere and use diesel to get all the way back to the busy area for acorn , liver , Alpha ect , but with delta its right across the north and south of Liverpool .
dont get me wrong he said he is not raking it in but after paying everything he gets £600/£700 for a 50 hour week , 30 of them hours he said is smashing the weekends !!!!!
I have worked out my exact weekly out goings and i am far better off with my own car
radio settle £95
insurance £65
car payment £35
and i will be putting an amount away for repairs but as the is nearly new with very low mileage (25k) i am hoping for no repairs the first year at least
So thats £195 per week plus fuel , some people pay that just for there settle car and then have to pay another £95 for the radio .
Its s*%t the taxis you dont want get on them i dont make no money !!!!!!!!!!!!! yer yer but you have been on the for 15 years and have 2 holidays a year !!!! but there s%it .

You sound like the public relations officer for Delta...If it was me i would reserve judgement until i had been in the job a few months...don't forget you get no sick pay / no holiday pay....it is not all a bed of roses...far from it...it is hard work.

I have been self employed for 18 years , and a bed of roses !!!!!!! look the last 18 years i have been doing 84 hour weeks fitting restaurants , bars , hotels ect (joinery) .
so i no what hard graft is mate but that hard graft has put a lot of money in the bank and i have no mortgage . And i am lucky enough to run my own car and not get ripped off with a old settle car .
so trust me 80 hours a week in the car will be a bed of roses from the job i used to do !!!!!!!!
i ll let you no how am getting on in 6 months time . but i am clued up , how to make money in any walk of life .

the work itself is not hard.
It's the hours that you need to put in and the stressful situations you may encounter.
Sounds to me like you know what grafting is all about.
however, your nice clean newish motor will be dented, clapped out and filfthy on the inside Within two years. Just something to take into consideration.
the weekends are where the money is as you've sussed, and they can be lucrative. But with it comes a price, don't expect to see much of your family or go out on the [edited by admin] with your mates... But , if youve been doing 84 hours per week then I'm guessing this must have been the case before.

2500 drivers and rising. Don't get me wrong but I don't think you're going to clear £600/£700 over 50 hours. The sums just don't add up but I wish you well

It wont be my car anymore it will be my work tool , just like my drills and saws , planers , bench saws i have that cost over £10k .
once it gets old and battered in 5 years times i will replace it like i would with a drill .
In 5 years it will have had some breakdowns yes but it would of saved me £3000 a year even with them breakdowns .
I will then get a £12k year old car with low milage £3k deposit and pay the rest over 5 years and keep saving money each year rather than get a settle .
That's the good thing about having good credit !!!!!!
I was out with a guy on friday night that works in Deltas call centre for the past 18 years the exact figure at the minute was 2100 drivers give or take .
And explained when you become a delta driver everyone out there hates you !!!! its because they work for roller cola and you work for coca cola .
He was saying Liverpool council are running scared of delta now and there new call Centre opens in town in October at the minute its just app work for the liverpool badge guys (200 of them) but all the court cases are over delta won them and now there going to start taking to knowsley and no one else can compete with them .
Now he has been working there for 18 years and is now a main manager and i have also been talking to drivers so i dont think there all lying are they ?????
I ll let you all no how am getting on in 6 months time and will stay on this forum for advice as well guys , thanks for the encouragement off some guys and too the guys that keep slating delta have you worked for them and have experience with them ?
