Our mers have done use well but always check
gearbox any vibration could be a simple fix of a gearbox rubber or worse torque converter if a automatic
Knocks from front will be pressed in ball joint
Esp lights on dash megga money unless you have the equipment to reprogram a new block
if esp brake system then you need to turn off the brakes before changing brake pads
always make sure the under bonnet fuse box cover is fitted correctley as water can find its way in and cause megga problems ( easy change out about 10 mins work)
some of our w211 are well into 300,000 miles and 1 is just shy of 480,000 if you look after them like we do they give good service
if you do go and check one listen to the engine if any hissing nose from top of engine then it could be injector seal Cheep fix but can be a right pain to do
keep away from the v6 280 as they have oil leek problems from top of engine around turbo area , we never found the leak neather has our merc dealer, i think its a faulty casting as no oil pipes run to the turbo. it does not show up on a cleaned engine running in workshop but as soon as you take it out on the road it shows up. We stoped buying these to use as taxis

I would go for the 220 very good on fuel, easy to servce and
you can replace the fan belt without wounding yourself.
