So, of course, was my original post.

This was posted earlier in the day on TDO administration section @1.45pm.

What part of humour did you NOT understand?

You said the green smiley gave it away, and I accepted it! Unfortunately, it would seem in your world that the same rule does not count if one gives a wink and a shock - a bit like one rule for you.....but different for everybody else #-o

Oh, and I don't hate councillors in general, during the course of the week I tend end up drinking with two of them from our local. I will say that I do hate one from Cardiff who screwed our trade up big time causing a massive monetary loss to the Hacks, but that is another story.

To put it bluntly you are being more than a bit silly regarding the posts.

I love how easy it is to get a bite. I think I will take up fishing. I can take it as well as give it. I have to, I'm a Tory Councilor.

Think I'll stand to become a local councillor, Money for old rope, turn up, sit and drink coffee, eat LA supplied Chocolate Hob Nobs, rake in £20,000 PA in spurious expenses, stand up and waffle once in a while about anything, agree to disagree on some things, disagree to agree on others, ensure only the trivial gets changed at the expense of the important, Decide which persecuted minority groups Flag to fly from the Townhall Flagpole.....Yes, easy living at it's best. A politically correct stalwart of the Local community and a hero to all, any variety of political views will suffice as long as the majority in my area are for them at the time of standing.

Yup, Im sure I could manage a trip once a fortnight to LA HQ without having to ruin my home life, and all for a shade of just under £400 a week.

Have you checked out your local Councillors allowances and other expenses. They should be available online. Standard allowances for the year here are £4,600 Which includes most of the items that used to be claimed as expenses. Last week my time spent on Council business was nearly 20 hours and there is work within the ward on top of that dealing with residents problems. To get anywhere near to your figure of £20,000 in our Council would require you to be the leader of the Council and chair just about every committee going.

That is for the equivalent of our County Council. They do get a larger allowance and travel a far greater distance than us Borough Councillors.

Ask your next 100 passengers if they know who their local councillor is?

See if you can find one person that does ......

Around here a lot of people know who their Councillor is. Most of them have been representing the same ward for donkeys years and particularly in the village wards they are elected unopposed. I regularly get greeted when someone gets in my car with "evening Councillor" even if i don't know them. even some of the school kids would call me Councillor for the first couple of weeks following the election.
i put it down to "small town syndrome".
