In comparison to other countries we are top heavy with MP's, we also have a judicial system that passes judgements on what is permissible from the MP's, to cap that we have Civil Servants galore wiping the noses of the MP's........why do we need to replace the House of a bye gone age that is nothing but costly pomp.

I would not even think about it as I am sure that there will be a "Sentencing".....from the thought police.

To tell you the truth I was taking into account that you are Irish , and then; not me but others, just might be thinking "Many a truth spoken in jest" Anyway expect a heavy knock on your door (like coming off of the hinges)

Perhaps your last post could tell us what it is like in the Tower of London - would you like a Shamrock or a Red rose on the lid

With 760 of the auld codgers able to sit in the Big Hoose at any one time ! Members who are not paid a salary may claim a flat rate attendance allowance of £150 or £300 for each sitting day they attend the House. This daily allowance replaces the separate overnight subsistence, day subsistence and office costs in the previous system. Entitlement is determined by attendance, not residence criteria.

Nice if you can get it and no wonder the country is skint ! The sooner we rid the country of this medieval practice the better. Oh and yi canny just get rid of them they have to leave !

A second chamber made up of OBEs&CBEs, those who serve there communities and are recognised for something they do rather than something they don't, ex MPs should be barred from it as well as celebs.
