The base rent (PDA) for us full time would be £150 a week (PDA only remember)

I asked one who should know what the view is on me putting a driver in the car on nights...

"they want double".....

£300 a week, PDA only...............

not likely bud

When I first started in this trade i was told that drivers should expect to get about 10 times their "rent" in work do you get £1500 a week worth of work !

I was told Elvis worked down our chip shop...

10 times my ar5e

15 years ago i rented a radio at £45 a week and could double or treble man the car 24/7 365 days a week

this guys business model effectively stops owner drivers being anything else, i could buy a 2nd car and put a driver in it but id have to pay £150/week base rent plus car costs, and the driver would need a wage, there are no OD's with more than 1 car, the base rents out cars at £300 a week (just add fuel) inc pda

how would you have to pay that ? if you bought a second car surely you would just hire it out for lets say for ease £100 pw, the bloke who rents it pays the office rent & his insurance ,& you pay the upkeep

theres no margin in it, if the base car is £300 (c/w pda) and a pda is £150, I cant rent a car out for more than.....

work it out

i couldnt compete nor make any money

its a tied-in system with no room for an OD to expand past 1 car, self driven

if he did it here he would charge £100 a week, the PDA would be £150 a week = £250 a week, (i assume it covers his plate/insurance/etc/ect?)

hang on, if the car comes plated then the owner has insured it, so what insurance does the hirer pay?

the ones here are £320 a week, inclusive (just add fuel) and he gives 2 rent free weeks a year, the renters take the cars home

My breakdown guys is £65 insurance - £35 car finance and £95 radio/pda settle which is £195 .
Then I put around £100-£120 in the tank so overall around £300 .
Gets me around £800-£900 takings over 6 days .

No a 18 month old insignia SE tourer .
It's my first years insurance and was quoted over 4 grand by most .
But mangered to get it for £3400 .
Which will go down next year .
BUT AM STILL FAR BETTER OFF than the silly settle drivers paying £170 per week for a 7 year old car and insurance.
But are you PH or Hackney chatter ????

You need to put money away for repairs £50 aweek..if at the end of the year you have any over ..good..Put it away for your next car.
