I thought I would have a bit of fun,
phoned the council parden the pun,
this oft report, reccomends council action.
"we await the government response beffore we sanction"
any change of policy must be carefully thought,
many plates changed hands, many were bought.

but dont you see, the council are urged to change?
but weve seen it all before thats not strange,
it may take years for the government to send thier guide
we need the will of the trade, so by them we abide,
many a time weve seen such a report.
and changes to policy weve had to abort.

so I will have to wait to get a new plate?
yes said the man we not keen to reallocate,
if you do issue will you allow my salloon?
if we did that would be a boon?
I think its likely we will demand all cabs
though first we will have to ask councillor Babs

Such a vehicle could cost a few quid,
think about it then beffore you bid,
by the way drivers will face a test,
so you will have to be your very best.
you dont give me much hope at all.
I will be watching and on the ball.

Yet another council that missed the OFT recommendation that they change even before the government changes the law.

Still when it comes to a choice of
a) Protecting customers or,
b) Protecting their easy life.

It's f*** the customers. :(

I would have thought that the 'meantime' statement will lead to guidelines coming from the DfT, following the 120 days think time.

The bit that leads me to believe that something has to happen, is if nothing does, then how can anyone assess demand properly, when OFT have rubbished the existing procedure?

Even a sloppy brief will be able to wipe the floor with a council, in an appeal.
