Oh here's the NATO flag after they were "very sorry" they bombed a hospital in Afghanistan last month - they killed 19 people including doctors and nurses - we got around the blame by telling ourselves it was the USAF

if "experts are astonished" terrorists can carry out something as sophisticated as 3 groups of terrorists actually knowing "the time" in three different locations in the same city in a planned attack- then we really are pretty much screwed.

There is already a small shanty town on the outskirts of Peterborough mind you it's next the Amazon's warehouse so perhaps it's their workers who can't afford to pay rent

Wasn't one of the terrorists born in France?

Let us keep it into perspective! Every country over the years has had its traitors. and those who will do harm to their own countrymen.

The EU is one big f/up from beginning to end, whether it is monetary, human rights or the taking over our country and waging war on despots (with mineral wealth in the ground) in the name of humane reasons, .....but not Mugabe!!!

The country has never been in so much debt, neither have we ever been in the situation whereby we have to Kowtow to others before we can get permission to do anything. The truth is that the majority of the populations of most of the countries would be out in the blink of an eye, it is only corrupt politicians that want in to the elite ole boy/gills club. 40+ years on and they are still debating....in Or out, that says it all for me.

In all honesty the only reason that I have seen from yourself for staying in, is that it makes it transport wise, easier for you to get in and out of Europe.....do you now see the damage and loss of life that is happening ,because the border control virtually no longer happens.

I have also said on many occasions - the historical 100 year war will be a mere blip compared to what is before us, as it could go on forever. However if we pull up the drawbridge and put passport controls back into place....then we give ourselves a chance. Other than that get a job as an undertaker as there is going to be plenty of work around.

The UK has always had passport controls. Have you been outside the UK without your passport, you can't leave without your passport and you can't get back without it.

I have not been abroad for a number of years, however I can remember coming back in the early hours of the morning, and walking straight through without any checks.

Putting that to one side:If you have a system in place that CANNOT tell us how many immigrants have come into the country, then you can see as to where I am coming from, you will also love this - it was courtesy of Labour, unfortunately it still has not been rectified......courtesy of Cameron!

The truth of the matter is that our border checks are virtually non existent in terms of the person being safe or not, and for that matter as to who they actually are. A passport in many respects is a joke.

I think you are wrong about the immigration thing. The Government know how many LEGAL immigrants there are in the Country. They don't know how many ILLEGAL immigrants there are. That is the point of them being ILLEGAL. And quite clearly you haven't a clue about our border controls because by your own admission you have not used them for years. There have been many reports on the news over the last few years of delays at passport control in this Country because of how thorough the checks are.

I do not think that I am missing the point at all!

First and foremost just because I have not been to war does not mean that I do not know about it, or that I have not been to a football match for years that I should not have an opinion. However being an out and out news buff, I do keep up with the times, and to a degree technology.

Your own statement that the government does not know how many illegals are here says it all, you are grasping at straws on that one! Our borders are useless, meaning in effect that the passport system is no more than a broken token acknowledgement, that the the person in the image "is the person in the image", and quite simply no more than that.

A passport as such tells you/I absolutely nothing of value re that person. More often than not the only way many of them have gotten in is a forged passport, so I am afraid that it blows your "They know how many legals are here, out of the water".

It is a total failure of keeping up with the times that has led to the situation, whereby they show their alleged passport and state that they are here on holiday/business.....and then stay forever!

We have no more than token border controls that keeps the average person in check....the bad guys will get around it.

It would seem that you have no idea about passports and how to tell if they are genuine or not. You and I don't need to know about another persons passport. There are certain security measures that are on a passport that we are not supposed to know about so that spotting a forgery is a lot easier at passport control. The officers at passport control do not just look at your photo any more they check a lot more than that.

That is about as naive as you can get! I guess on the basis of your above claim we should just accept the "Good Conduct" statements from foreign governments for prospective taxi drivers as opposed to our CRB checks .....and of course, forgery's NEVER get through - do they!?

You also choose to ignore that passport control is only a very small part of the problem. Let us say that a terrorist/visitor gets in on a genuine passport....there is nothing in place to stop them going AWOL/wander about/wherever. You then have to ask yourself what good is passport control...oh I know! they can then identify the killers AFTER they have killed the innocents. Unfortunately it is never the perpetrators i.e politicians who keep themselves out of harms way, courtesy of tax payers money.

Any visitor to our Country who has entered with a genuine passport is of course free to go where they want. Are you suggesting that tourists have to give our authorities a timetable of where they are going and what they are visiting whilst here.
If you are saying that passports are useless, what are you suggesting that we use? Or are you suggesting that we shouldn't let anyone in or out of the Country at all. I suppose we should ban all vehicles from entering and leaving the UK as well. At the end of the day, there is no guarantee that any system will stop the fanatic, personally I prefer to carry on living the way I do and trust the authorities to keep any risk down to the minimum. A little perspective is needed or we will all be like you.

Until they can be verified as to whether they are settling here or not is the case, then the answer is YES. How many times have you seen it in foreign countries other than the EU whereby they ask; Are you here on business and for how long, also as a tourist you can only stay for so long etc etc.

If they intend to come to this country then I would adopt something on the lines of the American system i.e apply to the Embassy of the said country. At the moment your trust is in the authorities, you leave me nodding my head side to side in disbelief of such naivety! Do you see them or there families being killed? they are not there for you or I, they are there for themselves only. "Trust them"....you are having a very senior moment.

You unfortunately are not moving with the times, as you can no longer live the way that you (used to do) because the politicians have f%^k$d it up.

The passport situation is a joke as illustrated by the Belgians! Belgium being part of the EU that you fully endorse, have allowed terrorists back and for without so much as a query. The EU headquarters i.e Brussels is apparently a massive breeding ground for terrorists....so much for the leadership and apparent security that they wish to impose upon us.

You will see at the bottom of my page "Common sense - is just not that common", take a note of that and you might live long enough to find out the difference between that, and "Perspective".
