Location: Stamford Britains prettiest town till SKDC ruined it
they managed OK for many years without it and the train offers a much more impressive view if they don't fancy the longer route

once got there about 2am on a foggy Scottish morning, found the bridge closed, had to use Kincardine bridge, no street lights, great day out

A bus replacement train service? It happened before when a bridge in Cumberland washed out a couple of years ago.

Buses are already replacing trains at Weekends between Newcastle and Edinburgh stations due to line works, be an irony if at Edinburgh you have Trains replacing buses..what a Mad Mad World...

why whats wrong with that ? The only problem is that in this wonderful age of privatised railway companies there are NO spare trains to use they would have to borrow locos and carriages from the preserved railways or cancel a few rail tours and pinch that stock :lol: I'm sure steam hauled relief commuter trains would go down very well in winter with no heating :badgrin: :badgrin:

The train companies don't own the trains, the ROSCO's (Rolling Stock Companies) own all the rolling stock. Oh I forgot, the ROSCO's are owned by the Tories, they set them up when they sold the railways off.

Interesting scenario actually. Discussed this with the wife as we both drive in Edinburgh.
It's normally about £45-£50 via the bridge set price,but having to go round via kincardine mileage and likewise you'd be nearer £150 just a wild guesstimate btw.
I think sorry mate can't take a country job clocking off soon may be simplest.
Or explain it will be metered with deposit up front.

No they aren't fees they are a form of extortion Network rail seems to know how to make everything cost 3 times what it should
