The council have authority to prosecute..on a rank..

on private land? dream on, they cant move travellers without a court order either

and as it was usually a friday or saturday night there was no chance the LO would ever see it

you would lose in court.....but the point is legally ordinery cars can not park on a rank..

if anyone legal with the due powers took any interest in it..................which they wouldnt/didnt

Indicators should only be used to signal a change of direction. The car moving forward on the rank was not changing direction, the car pulling in changed direction and caused a collision.

Imagine the rank and road as a dual carriageway, if a car in the right lane moves to the left and collides with a car already in the left lane that hasn't changed direction then they are at fault.

The car making the manoeuvre to stop on the rank is at fault I bet he too wasn't indicating his intentions, driving straight ahead is not considered a manoeuvre in an RTA situation, counter claim seems best solution

I think both cars had nothing more than a slight scuff and both drivers had agreed to let it go until this busy body chipped in I doubt anything will come of it he disappeared sharpest when i phoned the police to try unsuccessfully to get them involved

The problem with our rank is that the front end of it is a little too conveniently located for people nipping to the banks and bookies with a cashpoint next to it so loads of drivers cut in as cabs pull off or double park alongside so their passengers can nip in and they really don't think they are doing any harm or breaking the law

We have a Rank like that - always filling up with "Just" people.

"Just going to the (delete as appropriate) NatWest Bank / Post Office / RBS Bank / Nandos / Co Op Bank / Bookies / Skipton Building Society / Bakers / HSBC / Costas / Thomas Cook / Subway".

Don't you just love "Just" people on the busiest Rank in the City?

"I have a Blue Badge" they say "Look at the reverse" is my reply. Thou shalt not Park on (amongst the list) a Taxi Rank in hours of operation. It is a 24hr Rank.

Our town centyer rank is used by the public and businesses alike as a place to park. Sometimes it is impossible to actually get on the rank because of this and the arguments it causes. The rank is right next to a convenience store and a Dominoes pizza takeaway. They now want to site a post office next to it. Happy days.

I think there must be at least one rank in every city/town that has a persistent problem like this, I think we should be given authorisation to deploy a "Stinger" device. !!!
