Taxi Driver Online

There are rules regarding courts for legal reasons but I don't think it is illegal for anyone to record in a cab. It happens all the time with people taking selfies and recording themselves and the driver is most probably in the footage.

Okay we can go around in circles on this one - just a bit of food for thought! I would think that a fun thing or a crime gathering exercise under certain circumstances would probably be alright. However, as you already know, you have to have signage notifying the public that you have CCTV recording equipment in your/my cab, along with a sealed/tamper proof CCTV recording unit! Surely those conditions alone say that you cannot randomly film the public. Neither would it imo be suffice for some guy/girl just to turn up outside your/my cab already filming and say......I am filming you.

Nobody has mentioned that it seems to be recent therefore Xmas Friday office parties etc ,most people are going to be cheesed off trying to get a cab

Why can we go around in circles? You say it is illegal so show which law forbids it. It is that simple.

I cannot be ar$ed.......but I do know that you can be sued if you cause personal loss or damages if done without permission.

Take that knob who filmed a driver (apparently) asking for £20 for a fare that is £12/13. What if that driver was set up so this guy could have his 15 minutes of fame.

The guy wants to make a recording and gets a mate to approach a driver sat there doing nothing - hey drive my mate a making a documentary on the City! He is coming around the corner in a few seconds filming, and I would like to give you a tenner if you say to him when he asks how much it is to Ely that it is £20. The driver not being too bright, sees it as easy money, and does it..........does he deserve to become an unfit person to hold a licence, therefore losing his livelehood. There was double standards in that filming that makes me very suspicious of what went on.

If you want to trawl through law files....then go ahead. All I know is that (through the unilatteral actions of Councils) up and down the U.K, is that they are all singing from the same hymn sheet and saying that you have to have signage notifying people that they are likely to be filmed,it is the same with shops.As such there must be a law difference between filming, and then posting it for the world to see.The State of course.......do what they want.

That is for CCTV. In England and Wales at present there is no right to privacy law so anyone can film anyone unless ther is a specific law to stop it, such as in a court of law whilst proceedings are in progress.

In public you can record whatever, its the use of that data that is the issue.
