My prediction for tonight ;
Log on, get job (a booking) straight away. Bookings are sent out 10 minutes before the time booked for.
Sit and wait 7 minutes until booking is near time,
Drive to job and arrive at the time the booking is for,
Sit and wait outside house for ten minutes after the booking time because punters aren't ready,
No job the booking.

Get another booking straight away,
Repeat the above.

End up doing 4 bookings an hour but only picking up 2 because punters are'nt ready at the time the cabs booked for,
Spend more time waiting for punters than actually driving them,
Go home having only earned slightly more than I would on a Saturday night - only because of the higher tariff.

Happy New Year everyone :D

Is it that bad I did about half an hour doing phones from car and still managed 3 jobs in between sorting out other drivers and calls

My mate with an 8-seater will earn a fortune with the meter starting at £8.40.

But then again his motor did cost £30,000+.

Wrong tactics lads....take no bookings till NYE morning, when theyve tried everywhere else and had the bums rush....fully booked, then say its £30 minimum, if they can pay it to get in the pub they use every weekend of the year they can pay it to get home

that might have worked well round here sat in office from midnight to 02.00 turning over a hundred calls down as cars were struggling to complete what was in although we had very few little town jobs in mostly £12 + with one £80 job and a couple around the £50 mark but today shocked me haven't totaled it but 07.00 to 15.00 did about £250 mind you I was on my own only 3 jobs under £10 all day and a couple over £40. Gone quiet tonight though only 2 drivers come in out of 5 normally available Friday night one got a £160 job straight off the other on his own but sitting on the rank

back to normality tomorrow I suspect

I've always found New Year's Day to be ok.

My predictions were true, worst year ever for no jobs/no shows - no jobbed more jobs than I actually loaded

First hour, logged on, booking straight away (loaded =D> ) cleared and got another straight away, no job. Next one no job. So first hour five jobs and only loaded two.

By 8pm the bookings were already being sent out late due to work coming in, so I'm turning up for bookings fifteen minutes late AND THEY'RE STILL NOT READY.

At 4am we had nearly two hundred jobs waiting on screen, and due to our stupid system many were from venues that closed 3 hours earlier - but the system wont clear the job until a vehicle has been dispatched, and of course sends the oldest jobs out first. So the entire fleet was running around for jobs that were obviously going to be no jobs (some smart drivers just cleared the meter and replotted instantly). But as fast as the 3 hour old jobs were being cleared new jobs were coming in, so the new jobs ended up being nearly two hours old before being dispatched which meant they in turn became 'no jobs'.

On top of all that many were duplicate bookings, having waited for 20 mins for a cab they'd phone and book another, then again another 20 mins later and so on. Eventually a cab would be sent for the original booking but the subsequent bookings remained on the system so different cabs would be sent for the same punter even though the job had been done.

I knocked it on the head at 5am, but heard from drivers that they were still sending cars to 4am bookings at 9am !! #-o
