No doubt Bowie was an eccentric, he paved his life with the dreams/visions that came with the 60s physcadellic scene, drugs played a big part, enhanced creativity, enhanced thought, this was nothing unique to the music scene, 60s architecture (sh-t) 60s architect's under the influence, drugs are not a good thing as we now know the consequences but theyre not no good, the reason they are used is because they are for some very good, they must be to be addictive.
In the music industry today, nothing is new everything is a re-working of what came from the late 50s to the early 70s, Bowie played his part, he wrote some schect but he wrote many classics, he was an innovator, love him or hate him, he was a legend to many and including many performers today, Bowie never feared expressing himself, he was the pioneer of wearing make-up whilst performing, he took risks, one thing for sure though, he did it his way
