Hi , I'm new here , I have a problem with my licensing office. They are charging £32 for what is no more than two sheets of printed A4 sticky vinyl . They do not make these themselves, this work is contracted out. I know that the last printing company that held this contract invoiced £12+vat for a pair of stickers .
How much do you guys pay for a pair of door signs ?
Are the council allowed to profit in this way ?
Are there any legal implications in what they are doing?
The office won't allow a driver to approach the printers directly and other printing firms in the town have been "told" not to do any of this work ,
Any experiences? Any comments ,please , surely what they are doing cannot be right or lawful ?!

It is only licenses that they are not supposed to make a profit on.

They are taking away my freedom of choice and trapping drivers into paying what they want to charge , surely they can't have it both ways ?? They gave me 4 points on my licence for not displaying one door sign .

You know, I really hate it when this happens but I have to say that I have tried the reasonable approach and as TT says, they aren't.

Is there any real leverage, certainly not in striking ? I'm all for unions but it still comes down to one person negotiating , and if the licensing office is being unlawful, surely that's all it would take , and this is what I want to know , but I agree , 200 people shouting make more noise than me

"my" company provides all stickers (magnets) for free but when you loose them you've to pay £15 each, so that what they charge you is not that bad, mate... don't drive too fast you won't loose them... :!:

Your talking about magnets he's talking about stick ons.
One of the reasons some drivers prefer magnets is they can take them off when there using the car for personal use but the problem with that is in my area at least it a condition of your vechicles license that all plates and door signs are permanently attached.
I know this as I had a written warning for not having my door signs on when I was doing the supermarket shop.
