"my" company provides all stickers (magnets) for free but when you loose them you've to pay £15 each, so that what they charge you is not that bad, mate... don't drive too fast you won't loose them... :!:

32 pounds for stickers , not stickers and magnets ,
I don't drive too fast , they get swiped , (probably a council employee looking for another 32 quid

Our beloved cock-eyed council went from a stick on simple sticker to one with the H or P number on it (Hack or PHV)

Now can anyone see the flaw in this?....

(imagine a total fleet of 100 hacks and 100 PH)

I know what you're talking about and imho it's not that bad.... that's a cost of being a member in this exclusive club... I know maybe this is not reasonable price but market regulates some factors on its own.... I'm not happy with council charging me £189 every year for my renewal but I pay it... that's a price and making another theory of conspiracy behind price of stickers is ridiculous... examples might be multiplied...

i understand some hidden costs in applying for renewals ,paperwork, peoples time ,our plate renewal is 200 pounds, our badge renewal 110 pounds, i would like to see where the money is going .But for a sticker that they dont manufacture, placing themselves as a middle man and doubling the price of the end product for doing NOTHING,is beyond me .

clue

if you had (say) 200 cars on fleet, all have sticky door stickers, and assume 5% need replacements per year due to damage, and there were (say) 50 new plates a year how many door signs would you hold on the shelf?

(5% of 200 = 40 plus 50 new plates = 90 x 2 (one per side) ) would suffice = 180

now then, introduce the plate numbers on stickers and hold a spare pair per 200 cars plus 50 new pairs = 500

so with no plate number on them id guess 100 would be plenty per year......

LA already admitted they hold a spare pair per plate number

in fact id bet they kept a dozen old ones on the shelf

Just ask them the question. If you don't get the answer you were expecting, use FoI.

It is only licenses that they are not supposed to make a profit on.

Are you sure about that I thought it was meant to be all aspects of licensing. Surely if it is a condition of license that they display these stickers then by implication it should be at cost i.e not at a loss or a profit to the council

Send in a Freedom of Information request asking how much they are costing the council.

Then get a price from a supplier for the exact same thing.

Then make a formal complaint to the council over the difference.
