BUT.And it is a big but. A lot of them don't care they have a badge and a Hackney vehicle and they seem to think they can work anywhere and park anywhere even on Derby Hackney ranks when they see no Derby cabs there.
Many of them on a Friday and Saturday night take their door magnets off stick there roof sign back on and start working as hackneys in Derby city centre and this practice is totally illegal but they just don't care even when approached and this is where taxi licensing (not just in this borough, all areas ) needs to be given more power to combat this major problem in all towns and cities up and down the country.
Yorkshire have now introduced a single taxi and policing policy for the whole of Yorkshire to combat this problem, maybe they should be looking at something similar for the East Midlands
