Taxi Driver Online

The local traffic wardens told us yesterday that they have to allow 11 minutes before they can issue a ticket against a taxi parked on the rank which is what lincolnshire county council has told them is the law i.e. they have been told drivers can leave their cars parked empty on the rank if they are nipping to the loo.

Our council has always told us that you cannot park at all which is what i thought the law was.

Ranks are provided by Lincolnshire county council highways department not by the local council so my question is are taxi ranks governed by National law or can County councils determine the law in relation to them ?

Also take a look at the Councils policy document. Ours states that any hackney on the rank must be available for immediate hire. The driver has to stay with the vehicle. Of course that doesn't stop drivers leaving their cars unattended on the rank whilst they attend to other matters such as the loo, nipping to the shop/bank/bookies. One of our drivers does it regularly and I am always reminding him that he shouldn't do it and if enforcement catch him he will be given points, and we all now what points make!

Some of the drivers round here park on the rank and go and do there shopping! hour or two hours, they never get touched by traffic wardens! they just walk passed.
