If you beieve it; apparently we are a "main trading partner" of the Swiss. Stating the obvious, and seeing as to how they are surrounded by EU countries, then that is hardly surprising. We then have a small list of what they trade in! Tbh it tells us very little.

Seeing as to how the Swiss have been in the forefront of financial secrecy for decades, then I am sure that corrupt politicians are happy to big them up, in order to have their very own "Cayman Island" close and on tap.

Toots, take a look at the other European countries who have trade agreements with the EU. If you want to trade with them you have to agree to their rules which include making a payment into the EU and accepting the free movement of EU migrants on their terms. And as the Captain has said, there may well be import duty to pay on goods. At the moment the import duty on cars from outside the EU is around 10%. This is added after all other costs, including shipping have been added.

Why is it that the EU is desperate to trade with China and India and all those other non EU countries, but will want to play silly buggers with us, especially when we buy more stuff from them than all those non EU countries combined?

Idiocy such as this is enough on its own to make me vote out........................

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... untry.html

Anyone who is just looking at the apparent financial benefits of staying in - needs to take a long moral look at themselves......it could be a member of your family next.

Interesting the comments about the G20 wanting us to stay in the EU. Interesting in that only 4 of the G20 are in the EU and one of them is us, so that leaves many others to trade with should the EU play silly buggers, which I happen to believe they won't.

But I wonder how the leaders of China and the USA would react if unelected bureaucrats operating in a different country decided on their laws? Would they roll over and take it up the rear?

I very much doubt it.

I kike how the EU offered Ford £80million to close the Transit plant in Southampton and move it to Turkey.

We'll let anyone into this country, it's been proved many times before. The sooner we get out sorry backsides out of the EU the better.

the Daily Mail? really?

Gheorghiu served two years and eight months of a six-year jail sentence in his native Romania for a rape in 1990 before moving to Britain illegally in August 2002.

He has also been jailed twice in Romania for "forestry offences" such as "cutting timber without a licence".

In November 2007, he was convicted of drink-driving in the UK and banned for 20 months.

But it was only in June 2014 that the Home Office discovered his rape conviction.

1990? wasn't that 26 years ago?

It matters not! The point being is that; EU law lets the "Human rights" of criminals, supercede the rights of law abiding citizens. What do you propose..........all rapists regardless of where you are from......Welcome!

As a side thought! America who are practically demanding that we stay in.......will stop you entering their country for committing a crime against yourself i.e administering drugs - this guy has done a far more serious crime, as I am sure that many Germans will agree with.

The EU has nothing to do with human rights

What are you reading that I am not? The article states that EU law says that it breaches his Human rights to deport him.

The article is deliberately confusing us.

The ECHR is a completely separate entity to the EU.

We were founder members http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... -prisoners

Right I see as to where you are coming from! Having said that we are bound by the package of Human Rights accepted by the EU, whereas say Australia are only party to what they wanted. It would seem as is the case with the EU treaty/agreement/membership that not every country has the (same) cast in stone set of laws.
